05 evo 8 wastegate not working properly, will evo 9 WG fit?

05 evo 8 wastegate not working properly, will evo 9 WG fit?
my car is lagging alot and ive tried taking it off and adjusting it. i think its leaking or just not working properly, and all the Wg's that i see for sale are for evo 9 turbo's. what do you all suggest i do? im going to upgrade to an evo 9 or a green in the future so i dont want to spend that much on a WG.

and some additional info, i have an 04 and my turbo went out so i bought a replacement from a guy on here who sold me an 05 evo 8 turbo with 10.5 hotside. i re used my old WG off of my stocker with 9.8 hotside and i have been having issues since. would the 10.5 hotside make the old wastegate not work? and since the 10.5 hotside works on evo 9 turbo's would i have to purchase a evo 9 WG or an evo 8 WG?
evo 9 wastegate actuator will not fit because it bolts to the compressor housing on the 9 which is bigger
i went from a 9.8 hotside to a 10.5 hotside and resused the 9.8 wastegate actualtor and it was fine. hook the actuator line up to a bike pump and see if it moves when you put some air pressure in.

Did you preload it when you put it on? When I did my swap I had to readjust the wastegate as the length was off from the 10.5 hotside. There is a few vids floating around that helped me when I had to redo mine.

yes, i loosened the waste gate arm so that it slipped on and off on the flapper arm. then i turned it 3 full revolutions tighter and pulled it over the flapper arm. thats what everyone else said to do. it feels laggy and sometimes it will build boost and it feels very torquey then all of the sudden it spools up and all that Tq falls off fast. i cant go full throttle right now because its not tuned yett and its running really rich. ive done boost leaks tests and changed the throttle seals, removed EGR, sealed all my intercooler pipes with high temp rtv... i think its either then wastegate leaking or the turbo going out.
My experience is that a WGA for an VIII turbo won't work on a IX turbo. However, I have never tried a IX WGA on an VIII turbo. My guess is that it ain't gonna work for you.

If you use the 8 cold side, then you use the 8 wga. Same for the 9 cold side, it uses the 9 wga. Hot side didnt matter, at least for me when I swapped from 9.8 HS to a 10.5 hotside on the 8. When I put the 9 on, it took the 9s wga.

im using a hallman pro MBC, but i have a GM 3 port sitting in my drawer waiting to go on. im just waiting to get it tuned first, and i dont want to waste my money tuning it with a leaky WG.
