evo 8 bogged down. help pls

i need help with a bogging issue. its not race related. my wife was driving and i was asleep. the car started bogging out of nowhere and started to lose power and got worse and worse really fast. we found a parking spot and pulled in. as we pulled in, the car died. it wont start back up. cranks but doesnt fire up. i did just replace the exhaust system and had it on for only a week. dont know if changing the exhaust will kill the car though. it ran fine for the week that i did have it on. time as 10:30 pm when this happend so i couldn't really see. ill post more about it tomorrow. any help is appreciated.

Hope you made it home safely.

Is it a full system? Even if it is it should not cause this.

I would think it would be a spark or fuel issue. Does it start after sitting for a bit?

Check for one of the hoses blown off after the turbo. The connection at the intake manifold is the most common.

When my intercooler piping blew off it would still run but I just couldn't give it any throttle at all. Wouldn't hurt to look tho. I doubt its the exhaust too. Definitely sounds fuel or spark related.

check out for a boost look or possibly an O2 sensor.

Was there a loud pop noise right before it bogged? If so more than likely it is intercooler piping. Follow the pipes coming out of each end of the intercooler to see if any are blown off and also check the couplers to make sure there isn't a rip or hole in any of them. I've had this happen to me several times but it's never really bogged so badly that it turned completely off, but that is definitely a place to start checking. Like the others have said it really shouldn't have anything to do with changing the exhaust. GL.

if it cranks but doesnt start, check the crank/cam sensor. If one of those goes out, it doesnt let the spark plugs fire, causing ur car to bog down until it stops...

ok got it fixed. and i do feel really dumb but, it wasnt my fault. my fuel gauge told me i had a 1/4 tank left. but when i took out the fuel pump to change it, the tank was empty. i was out of fuel. so now im gotta check to see if my fuel gauge is faulty or if the fuel meter is faulty. they both looked fine to me after putting gas back in though. and yes im pretty retarted for running out of fuel. but like i said, i wasnt my fault that my precious evo lied to me. but thanks for the good help and quick posts guys.
