Question LCD Screen Gauges...

I was wondering if anyone knows any other vender besides HKS that has LCD screen gauges. I have seen this once or twice. It is a LCD screen or DVD unit that the screen folds out and has the Gauges displayed on the screen. Please let me know what other products are out there if you know of any.

Thanks in advance.

Try Defi, they have their own display panel that works with their defi-link system.

the HKS camp is a system that you use on your own LCD. it is a CPU and a junction box that connects to the sensors and then displays them on your screen.

I'm looking more for the DVD player fold out screen that you can hook up digital gauges to.

thats the HKS CAMP

only HKS and DEFI have anything like it.

the HKS will end up consting quite a bit if you want to monitor boost or EGT, b/c then you have to buy the camp (260), the Junction box (350), each sensor(40) and each sensor's harness (20), not to mention the screen to display it on..

I'd love to have that setup, but its too damn expensive for a bling bling gauge.

This is the closest I can find (HKS CAMP CPU) It requires additional parts, but it will work through a standard A/V Display..

**THERE ARE MORE PRODUCTS OUT THERE** but until I can figure out what the standard "keywords" People use for these things is, it'll require a few hours of surfing search engines to find an alternative.

A few years back, I made an analog to digital and digital to digital data capture device for my PC.. with the right software it could definitely be done on an in-car PC (or you can use an OBD-II Scanner and a digital dashboard app for the PC too.. not as easy or quick to setup as a dedicated device like the CAMP system though)

i know kenwood has a set up that enables the use of gauges on the dvd screen. I was thinking of doing the same set up with the clarion unit i bought but found out afterwards that it wasn't compatiable. Sony also might have a set up that enables the use of gauges but i'm not so sure on that one.

I'd go on the kenwood and sony websites and submit a question to a sales rep or someone that could answer your question. Or visit a well known audio visual store around you and ask them. The last thing i would want is to spend that kind of money and be misinformed.

Yeah MalibuJack I have been having hte same problem searching the engines... The lcd screen gauges are cool because they are stealthy and you dont have to have gauges if you dont want to use them.

My dad was saying how Caddy's use the Heads Up display.. That would be cool if they made a heads up display unit so you can hook the gauges up and you can see a readout on the windshield. That would be the best.

The only bad thing about the Sony and other stereo related items (from what I've read) is it measures things like SPL, DB's, Alternator Load, Voltage, and Amp temps.. Unless you've seen something different, its intended to measure audio statistics.. although I don't dig the pro-audio scene, I do have to admit that there's a need for instrumentation when your running at that level, and you don't really see gauges for that stuff (well, not until recently)

Keep looking, there's tons of stuff out there, its just hard to find when theres no standard for what you call it.

You could contact companies that provide "Video Overlay Devices" for the automotive industry.. We used it alot a few years ago with a video reciever (wireless) and wireless modem to log data and driving style, it overlaid the engine data on the screen like RPM, gear, temp, driveshaft speed, etc..
