EVO 9 vs APS bov

Well I as many have made the mistake of putting on an HKS non recirc bov on my EVO 8. After my worth every penny Tune with 4wstuning we turned the boost up to around 23 psi in certain gears thanx to my Grimmspeed 3 port BC. I get some pritty nasty flutter in partial throttle because of my HKS bov, Anyways what I am asking here is does anyone have any input on which BOV is better or smoother?

EVO 9 bov or APS bov?

I found an evo 9 BOV from this site
http://vr-speed.com/store/mitsubishi...ve-p-1096.html
Id also like to know if this is a legit evo 9 metal bov?
for a very reasonable price compared to the APS bov that I found to be around 275$

Any help would be awesome thanx much
luke.

stick with evo 9, its a metal diverter and can hold up to 40psi so it does the job.

I was running a crushed evo 9 bov for a long while. From stock boost , evo 9 turbo, fp green(old style, and even a 40R. I finally had to upgrade to something else after i wanted to turn the boost past 30psi. The stock 9 worked great for me up to 30psi on a mid size aftermarket turbo.

I can get a new one for 145 shipped so I think ill just go that route. So apparently 40psi is somewhat of a laugh?

Also my HKS is the old chrome shi**y one that i dont think is adjustable and the flutter on acceleration I dont think can be solved by a recirc.

Im somewhat new to this site. How would I go about finding those used IX bovs?

Check our out the Private 'Evo 1 - 9' For Sale / Wanted , look under the Engine/Drivetrain/Power section. I haven't seen very many used valves lately though, so if you're in a rush $145 doesn't sound that unreasonable for a new OEM part.

I've used my APS since 64K.

I just don't think they make it anymore.

The Metal 9 DV is a great choice.

Synapse tested the ix dv and it started to leak at 25 psi. Aps holds more boost assuming it doesn't leak at the adjusting bolt on top of the unit. That can be fixed using quack tape.

Ya i have looked and looked for aps and all sites say their outta stock. Some people claim 30psi new on the 9s so ill go that route. I would like to see some power graphs proving that big hp gain after switching to speed density. Ive emailed my tuner to see if he agrees. Hope thats hp jump is possible.

i have used the aps valve for a couple of yrs now. one thing i did have to do is some maintenance on it (greased it with mobile 1 synth grease) because it was sticking open. since then it has operated like a stock evo 9 bov (smooth). unfortunately they do not make the aps bov anymore but you may be able to find one in the classifieds.

Well it sure woukd be nice if they made just one solid aftermarket bov for the evo. I know therez synapse and forge but im talkinv about one specifically designed for en evo.

How is the Evo charge air release different than any other forced induction vehicle? The only difference would be if you need to recirc or not.

Is your aim here just to question my wishful thinking? Well for instance Not every forced induction has the same UICP flange as the stock evo UICP also some bovs have adjustments that need to be made for the Evo so a Bov designed for the evo would be nice. Also some Bovs even after recirc are still junk for evos. But if you want to question that also go right ahead and waste some more of your time.
