I think Im Calling it Quits
I hear ya man, so far this year i am on my 4th motor. Just a lot of bad luck happened but i couldnt imagine 10 motors lol. I prolly would have been done already if that was the case.
The only thing that keeps me going is the goal that i want. Simply to make a 8 sec pass. To be apart of the 8 sec club which not to many people say they gone 8s. I dont wanna quit till i have that slip. When i do go 8s. Ill race it at the track on occasion but mostly will drive the car on the street and enjoy it.
I would give it one last shot if you want 9s. You can part out your car anytime. Spring 2012 will be here before you know
Good Luck!

Anybody that went through the motors, tcases, transmissions, etc on the Evo is NOT going to be happy with a stock GT-R. The GT-R is a great car, but mods, maintenance, and repairs are insanely expensive. It's the primary reason I don't own one. I could afford to own it, but not to mod it or track it. I would rather have an Evo built for the type of racing I enjoy and be able to actually drive it on the track without selling a kidney. Hell, I could have a c6z06 with bolt-ons, and sticky tires and be turning comparable lap times, but I love the little 4-cyl turbo.
English racing is working on an auto drag tranny if I'm not mistaken. Wouldn't want to see you give up your dream of running 9's in the evo.
Ultimately its your choice. Good luck!

Some have mentioned already and I think maybe listing off what you've done, what failed, what you're using, might be a long over due cluster of information. Sounds like you might need a bit of "out of the box" input and feedback to get that car into the 9's.
Just a friendly observation. Best of luck to you sir

You must be smokin'... That very same post you quoted specifically says to spend the money more on driving and less on mods. AKA Autocross... he didn't say it was cheaper. Though track days and reasonable autocrosses (no hard launches) are a lot cheaper than drag in the long run.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you on the GTR being insanely expensive to maintain... But how does that have anything to do with motors, tcases and transmissions on an Evo? In stock form and driven correctly the GTR will out drive the Evo easily AND have much greater reliability, even over a stock Evo.

Let me clarify with these 10 motors. if a valve is bent the head and short block are getting freshened up. if a piston has a niche on it all 4 get replaced. im very particular with everything about this car. ive only grenaded 2 blocks.
my arch nemesis the tcase. ive cleaned the teeth off the ring and pinion once. all other times is just unbearable whine and these are low mile upgraded tcases.
and the 4 cars you dont buy a good deal when you see it? im not totalling or crashing them. ive just had 4 evos.

About 5 years ago, I started to have a lot of problems with my car bringing it to local shops. (NJ/ CT) Then I called up AMS and we sat down and discussed my goals with the car. They fixed up my car and I drove it 5 years with minimal problems. I had a 580whp daily driver with factory trans , and with AMS 2.3 ltr . I not saying all your problems will be fixed, but I was very impressed by their professional approach.
I mean anybody that has made the kinds of modifications he's made on his Evo to hit a 9 second 1/4 mile will not be happy with a stock car. ANY stock car. The GT-R is a great car with a lot of things going for it, but it is not godly. I would hesitate to say a stock GT-R is more reliable than a stock Evo as well, but a stock GT-R is hella more reliable than a nearly 9 second Evo.

Sell up a buy a BMW M5
V8 TT 415kw.
I love Evo's, dont get me wrong, but if you're not really interested in the workload anymore. Something like that, with moon moving amount's of power but with low up keep would be great.
