I think you have your figures off a bit. I've dealt with a lot of police in my life and I'd say about 20% are crappy people. I'll agree that like 40-50% can go on power trips, but if you treat them with respect, you get respect.

As for the exhaust question, if you're moving to CA then it's a good idea to have a stock sounding exhaust. If you do much driving you will get pulled over eventually. At that point you either pay a ticket or put the stock exhaust on and go see a state Ref to get it overturned. Too much hassle in my opinion. A quiet exhaust that looks close to stock with a cut-out is your best bet.

A cop that drives an Evo? Has jesus come back?!?! JK
Serously, you're cool in my book, but a majority of the cops in the NOVA area are d***s. It's mainly the VA cops though.

Tanabe Touring Medallion is definitely the way to go. Had one on my old Evo. Looked classy, and was just a tiny bit louder than stock at idle, and still sounded aggressive under acceleration. That was with a resonated test-pipe as well.

Great cat-back exhaust.

well i live in cali and to quiet mine down, i ran 2 18" preforated style resonators welded after the testpipe catback flange in the tunnel under the car. Quieted mine down a bit at cruise hwy speeds, but still loud, in fact had a cop behind me for 2 miles on a main street in my neighborhood, no lights didnt even look at me as he passed by in the slow lane, that was with him pullin my plate im sure, and seeing my long but distinguished driving record haha. IMO unless you get a dick cop, dont drive like an asshat and you should be good. But i like that exhaust cutout, sounds like a good idea.

Thanks for all of the input and comments guys. Definitely a lot to consider; I just found out that I can't legally own any of my guns in CA so I'm just going to get a place in Nevada and tag my car there lol.

I should be ok

I don't think it is too loud at all. But then again California is a very strict state!

I hate it. I am a patent attorney turned chemistry teacher. My first year of teaching I taught at an inner city school in an area that most suburbanites would only go to to find drugs. I was pulled over not doing anything wrong on my way home from work, and the officers first question was "what are you doing here?" I told them what I was doing there and gave them all my documents. They went to their car and came back. I understood why they had pulled me assumed they would let me go. I was surprised when they took my paperwork, and even more surprised when they wrote me a ticket. I went home and looked up the law to confirm that I had done nothing wrong.
I then had to take time off work go to another bad part of town pay for parking go to court with the dregs of society, until after pat downs and metal detectors I finally was able to speak to the judge who threw out my ticked before court started.

Personally I love not getting tickets for things that I did not do, and prefer not to be stopped in the first place. Usually I do not get bothered by police, and the ones that I know are good guys.

I was turning left at an intersection and they said I failed to yield to oncoming traffic, but the guy opposing me was sitting still at a green light. I had a green light.

They didn't even write the correct law on the ticket, so I never had to argue the facts, since the law they cited me for applied to pulling out of a driveway onto a road where there are no posted signs.
