Might be time to quiet my car down.
I had a cop pull me over in upstate NY. He started asking general questions, and then we got to the crux of the matter....he wanted me to rev my engine to hear my exhaust. Why? Because he thought it was decently quiet and sounded sweet for the fart can style muffler (at the time I had a HKS). And wanted to buy one for his evo X! Then he proceeded to show me car pics on his phone.
At the end of the day stop being a douche bag and give some respect to cops and your results may turn out better than you hoped. And thats not the same as being passive aggressive btw. I've been let off 50% of the times I've been pulled over (and fought all the others more or less successfully) mostly because I'm not a douche bag. (IMHO)

I was turning left at an intersection and they said I failed to yield to oncoming traffic, but the guy opposing me was sitting still at a green light. I had a green light.
They didn't even write the correct law on the ticket, so I never had to argue the facts, since the law they cited me for applied to pulling out of a driveway onto a road where there are no posted signs.

That is messed!
Don't even know the laws they're enforcing.
If it's innocent until proven guilty, why does it Cost so much to prove your innocence?
What it is, most of each of our state govts are hurting for money, tickets are one way to generate revenue for each state, not a good way but a way nonetheless, I think what it comes down to is some people were dicks before they became cops, and once they wear the badge, they can do what they want. Now most of the time, a little respect or common courtesy to em, will actually get you pretty far, unless either a) the cops having a bad day or week b) someone he knows partner family friends died or something c) he just wants to profile you, and give you a hard time. Make there job difficult if your tired of getting speeding tickets, my cousin was telling me about this ceramic window tint you might wanna look into, it reflects UVA, UVB as well as infra red cant see into the tint even though its not limo tinted. So it hard for cameras to see in if its a red light camera style ticket. As well as cops trying to hit you with a laser gun. My record is prolly the worst one here over the course of my driving record, and to be honest, I drive within the laws, and for Riverside Police being one of the more conservative departments, unless your street racing or driving like a jackass, i really havent been pulled over, unless your talkin bike cops cuz those people can hear me idling easier then patrol car cops haha

The only time that's ever backfired was when I wouldn't let a Maricopa County sheriff search my truck without a warrant and no probable cause... He literally spit in my face and left. At least I can say I stood up for my rights
Lol... cops are retarded they don't even know the law. There job is to serve and protect the (PUBLIC). They swore an oath under the constitution to do as such and under there code of conduct or statues or w/e they need to follow those rules. The rule is that it has to be over a certain decibel level. The naked ear can't measure how loud something is by the exact decibel level. If the limit is lets just say 90 and you're exhaust is 89 they technically can't do ****... Just like when they stop you for you're tints which is stupid as fu%k and they haveto get a tint meter and do the test. If you're tints allow a certain percentage of light in and its not less than the legal limit they can't do ****... Know you're **** don't let these cops bus you around... Ask logical questions and flip the script the'll probably never bother you again... Just some pointers i hate cops SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH! UGH lol i would kill a cop....
Most cops are powertripping douchebags who don't deserve an iota of respect. I used to work for a company that write the software for the bulk of the police record systems and in-car software... even when you are working to help them they are jackasses.
I can't count the number of times I've been profiled as an "import driver" pulled over and harassed... like the "excessive speed" warning for doing 19 in a 25 mph zone <1 block from my house where they held me for over 30 minutes with 3 cop cars and told me "get used to being pulled over *******." Or the cop that -heard- my car accelerate from a stop to 60 mph (55 mph zone) in a parking lot with no view of the street, at night, with my black Evo and pulled me over saying I "must have been doing 90 mph". "Excessive speed" ticket and another trip to traffic court for that one.
Or the cop that pulled me over as I came off an exit ramp doing 65 mph (the speed of the road I was exiting off of) and before I even saw a speed limit sign (50 mph) pulled me over, and spent 15+ minutes screaming in my face before writing me a ticket.
Or the cop that gave me a ticket for "squealing my tires" because it "looked" like I was going fast around a turn.
Or how many times have I been followed for 2-6 MILES by a cop because he sees my wing and wants to harass me?
I understand cops have a job that includes traffic enforcement... I understand if I'm breaking the law, especially if I'm driving like an *** that I deserve to be pulled over. I have a problem with being mercilessly harassed by profiling officers, who speed around at 90+ mph with no lights all the time and then having them lie through their ******* teeth in court. I specifically got into road racing so I could have a legitimate outlet to drive without being treated like a ******* criminal.
The one cop I have met in 30+ years in MD who was not a raging ******* was a fellow import owner who knew my shop and actually let me off when he got me on laser dead to rights. I absolutely deserved a ticket for my speed although I wasn't driving like a jerk or threading the needle, but he let me off and actually stayed and jawed cars for a few minutes. I would blown away because until that one guy I had never met a cop I could ****ing stand.
And for the officer earlier in this thread talking about "officer discretion"...your ear is NOT a calibrated tool for judging the suitability of equipment to meet the mandate of the law. Officer discretion allows these guys to let open header Corvettes and Mustangs blow by or Harleys with 140 db at idle and pulls over anybody with a import and a fart can. It's unfair and its wrong.
/end rant .... sorry cops make me rage something fierce!

Is this legit? In Canada having a loud exhaust gets you the equivalent of a parking ticket type $130 charge. But having a cutout of any kind....thats a huge fine. Similarly not having a cat is a $1xx mundane charge. Those tickets are easy to fight too. Just put stock stuff back on and have a mechanic authenticate it and go to court with the proof.
Lieing about having a cat or having a fake cat is another serious charge. In Ontario they have mobile emissions check trucks rolling around. So if you have a fake cat and try to claim its real....they might call your bluff. And then impound your car.
