If you bought GAP coverage, roll it in a farm field a few times, then grab the insurance check.

Arrow evo in oh

OK we all know that depreciation, by just driving it off the lot is atleast $2500. ....hmm ...its interesting that most of the responders with the exception of 2, are NON Evo owners!

Please note that this car just came out in March, and only about 4000 are being sold state-side. Everyone is out to make a buck, or save big bucks! ...remember some of those dealers charging like $40k! thats nutts

As evo owners, or future owners dont you think that the demand, and therefore resale value should remain strong, unlike the WRX!

Bottom line, kudos to MMC!, OMG, WOW this car is amazing, {and so far trouble free}, and full of accolades from every freaking car magazine, ...and if you drive or own one, you know first hand that this car is simply amazing, awesome, and absolutely the most fun you could have with/without clothes! and for the price, it cant be beat!

Look at this from Auto-trader: some 20 evos nationwide, and avg price is $30,325(upto $40k)!!!!

http://autotrader.com/findacar/resul...used&x=40&y=10

for those who want to get one for $25-$27k, good luck!

I think I will ask for about $28,850. (my loss of $4950.! )

i think you'll have a tough time selling it for msrp when it is used. no one really cares what you lost or how much you paid.

Never go by what morons pay for something on EBay. Especially when there are dealers selling them for MSRP or even at least one for near invoice price. Don't assume I'm just trying to talk you down in price to get a deal cause I'll be buying mine brand new or even ordering it if need be. No sunroof, with the wing and no other options.

Re: Re: EVO resale value--what is a fair selling price for EVO with less than 1000miles?

Well, with normal cars that are easily available at dealership lots and are not special in any way, this rule of thumb holds truth.

But when a car is limited in production...and are sought after by enthusiasts...and ones that there are few examples of at the local dealerships...ones with extremely low mileage....this normal rule doesn't directly apply.

Depending on your local market, I'd think that could possibly sell it and only lose the tax $$ you paid on delivery day. But you would have to find that one buyer in your area. Otherwise, I think you will likely take a 5-10% loss on your sale.

For reference, go see how much Type R's and Supras sell for. They were relatively limited, and are sought by enthusiasts also. But don't judge by an edmunds or kbb price. Those are avg resale value and are computed with some artificial calculations. Go to the boards...talk to owners...the price of a rare-ish car will be one dollar less than the market will bear.

I sold my Type R for a hair over $18k. And that price came after owning it for 3 years, 57k miles, and a severe theft attempt. Those cars new were $22k. They still sell at near MSRP prices if you find a prime example.

Good luck!

SC~

I'd examine keeping the evo and selling another car. I'd imagine that you'd realize less of a loss that way since in the long run the Evo is likely to depreciate much more slowly than most other cars. This will be doubly true if Mitsubishi moves to the Colt platform for WRC and thus decides to discontinue the Evo. If you've got a company car coming, it may be wisest to put your miles on that, ditch a different car, and then have a low-mileage, high-value Evo in the long run (and all the fun that comes therewith)...

okay heres the real deal-

ive taken my car to numerous dealerships to get it appraised in terms of trade in value and ive gotten any where from -

-"my manager doesnt even wanna put 20g's on the car"
-"we can give you 23g's"
-"we can give you 24,500"
-"we dont know what its worth (basically we dont want it)"

and the fluke was at a lexus dealer wanting to trade the car for an is300. they started off at 23 but ended up at "okay, we'll give you 27g's for the car"

so im thinkin about goin for the is300 but i dont know. its a boring car. nothin to look at, just luxury. the evo is great but i feel like im wasting it as a daily driver and im getting too used to it. the drive and the feel is no longer special , which is all my problem, not the cars since i drive it too much. i wanna get a normal luxury car with a little flare - that would serve a college student better anyways. im lookin G35. anybody wanna trade evo for G35?
