I worked for a dealer about 10 years ago and couldnt believe the BS and screwing involved in that industry.

Also one thing I didnt mention is that the dealer sold and charged the kid $1600 for a 84/100k Mitsu Marquis warranty but didnt actually put an extended warranty on the car at all. Its unbelievable that they would do that...but even more unbelievable that the kid would sign all the paper work plop down $25k CASH as a down payment and not even look for the additional paperwork to go along with the $1600 warranty !!!

The kids parents where a little upset when their son drove home in a new car without their knowledge.

The only word of advice I would have for anybody is education, knowledge and be persistant when buying a vehcile from a dealer or privately.

At this point I am in the process of having the dealer place the warranty on the car like they should have done in the 1st place.

Like ive said b efore and MichaelA agreed, i dont see any reason to buy an Evo for new if you can verify how the car was treated accumulating its existing mileage.

They never turned in the warranty paperwork??

Illegal. They should slap that bad boy on it like YESTERDAY..
That **** is different..That is beyond laziness..

It's criminal.

I didn't learn that way FYI..

most dealers about the time you (got out) of the business have turned full circle in terms of how they run the store, sales process, representation, CSI..The business is different and I have SEEN it change..(those "old school" guys are either dead or selling Mobile Homes)

I truly feel that the business is still feeling the effects of what you experienced then...now.

But times have changed..

Your looking at around 23,000 for trade in. At least this is true for the Portland Oregon area.

You're going to get royally screwed with anything that has 6000 miles....or anything that is under 1 year old. You'll loose near 20% of the value.

About 22-24k.

Resale value of the EVO basically sucks.

Resale/trade-in value sucks because the car hasn't been in the market long enough.

Head to a dealership and try to trade in the EVO.

I mean, you can ask whatever price you want, but dealers selling the 03's brand new for invoice (and a few have been for a while)..

Besides that, look on auto-trader or around for used ones.

I havent seen a 27k used EVO yet, but I did see a couple with higher mileage than that go for high 26k.
