Evo's Trade in/Resale Value [MERGED]
I think the EVO will hold its value like a paper towel holds water.
But I'm keeping mine for the long term. When I buy my new Jaguar, I will still have my EVO by its side.

well, i dont have an evo, but I really really really want one but dont have the 30,000. So for any of you out there that has one (perferably tarmac black) with about 5000 miles or so on it and want to sell around 23,000, please pm me.
Well,
I plan on keeping mine forever. Already know the pain of selling a pristine car I really, really loved, and that was my 1992 Corrado VR6. Won't do it again. Now that I have come to love Japanese performance cars, plan on keepingthe Evo, building into a beast, and adding an s2000 to it in the garage in a few years. Cool thing about Japanese cars. If you are patient, you can have adecent collection for a reasonable amount of $$...so, I could care less how much my Evo depreciates.

Mitsubishi has clearly stated thay will build as many of these cars as they can sell ( umm, this is no Supra). Yes, there are plenty of other factors affecting resale value. Some of the others include competition ( what if other manufacturers start offering vehicles with better performance for less money?). Enhancements? ( If Mitsubishi improves upon the current model, older models become considerably less appealing). Finally, people looking to buy a used one are going to assume it's had the crap beat out of it. The lease residual is obviously not an absolute, it's a relative figure that can give an indication of how dramatically value will decline. It's a great car for the money and there's nothing wrong with buying a car and driving it for 10 years, but the cheerleaders are wrong if they think this cars value will hold up well.

I would say that by sometime in 2004, next year, we would be able to see used Evo's for sale as low as $15,000 to $20,000. And, probably only with 30,000 miles or less. A bit hopeful, but Mitsu just sucks with depreciation values so you might not have to wait til 2005. (unless of course this too is out of your financial reach).

I was just at the local mitsu dealership yesterday and they have a loaded yellow evo (40 miles, sunroof, spoiler...sticker a bit over 30k) for sale for 27,500 and "would probably deal a bit on that."
Went by a local Mitsu dealer last night just to get the 2F2F DVD and a poster for test driving a lancer, was hoping to not have to waste their gas or my time ( MB dealerships do this all the time and fortunately they understand and don't want to waster their time either and wil just fork over the stamp or whatever to get a $75 gift certificate or whatever)
Well you have to test drive a lancer, so sure, was actually hoping they had a Ralliart Sportback, but no, just a sedan ralliart. So off we go, nice car. ok fork over the video and poster. "We can only give you the poster becuase you don't have the paperwork?" WHAT PAPERWORK? They have signs all over the dealership stating this free DVD with test drive.. Mitsu was only hire people dummer than corp HQ, so they can save face.. Man this was just lame. I want my 15 mins back..
