You don't actually lose money if you keep your vehicle, drive it and enjoy it
.
I bought my 1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 new in 1991. I have driven it over 150k miles including 50+ days of track time enjoying it all the time and never once thinking about how much its value had depreciated.
I intend to do the same with my new 2003 EVO and I am keeping that Galant VR-4, it still has years of fun driving left in it
.
Decrease in market value offers an excellent opportunity to buy a slightly used EVO at a bargain price
. Just check the vehicle out throughly and verify that the full factory warrantry is still in effect.

Well the 18yr old kid I bought the car from walked into the dealership in June paid sticker for the car PLUS $1600 for an extended warranty, $500 for glass etching, $500 for an alarm then procceded to put several thousand dollars in stereo equipment in the car. So all said an done with tax he spent about $37k on the car. 4 months later he realized he couldnt afford the car any more. He was spending $666 per month in insurance (yes that is $8000 per year) and about $600 per month in car payments. This kid was definitely not the brightest bulb in the pack.
So in the middle of the winter with snow on the ground and local dealers not selling new EVO's I was able to name my price !!! If the kid didnt accept my offer he was about to make another $1300 payment ... no joke !!!
This is precisely why I shoped around for a few months until I was able to get the best deal possible.
Timming is everything.

Im looking at the C6 vette in late summer. I will need to sell my evo before I would get this. I contacted lease-by-tell, and they said that they would buy my evo from me and give me a price quote. I called latter in the day and they said Mits. have 0-0-for 1 year, I was like I dont think they have this on the evo? He said yes they do and he didnt have any numbers to shoot me. He then said Mits is in serious troubles,,,,,,,,But they do lease c5 vettes for $529/month 0 down for 39 months with 36,000 miles included.
Has anyone done business with these guys? They will deliver the car to your house on a truck,,, sounds good to me. Then when your lease is done , they will get you the best price they can on a new car.
They always advertise in the back of Autoweek magazine for those of you that want to check them out.
BTW I want about $24.5k for my evo roof/wing and 10k miles.

I thought Michael was doing the kid a real favor by taking the vehicle off his hands
. $666 a month for insurance
,
unbelievable
! Opportunity to buy an Evo at wholesale, priceless
.
Seriously, there is a black Evolution with rear spoiler (assume CF wing?) and roof with 2,400 miles, advertised in the Roanoke (Virginia) Times for $24,500. If anyone is interested, the person's name is Mike Burd, telephone (540) 989-3124. I do not know the person nor have I seen the vehicle. It has been advertised for about 6 weeks with a couple of price reductions. Another soul needing a helping hand out of a financial pinch
? Happy hunting

M3,,,, all cars come to you on a truck,,, these are PDI'd before they come out to you..... So dont freak too much, its not like you have to put fluids in, take out spacers, ect ect ect.....
They are just shipped to you,,,, covered cargo is like $150 more.

You have missed my point..
A vehicle and the experience of delivering a new car to a client is and should be a good experience. Dropping a car off at your door on a flatbed while it seems to be convenient, certainly lacks the client services that one would expect from buying a C6 at $50,000. Plus..Having a contact person to see the car into the clients garage with a full demonstration of features and controls
( if the client is okay with that) is paramount.
So is the long term dealer relationship.
You really don't think that knowing a salesguy or serviceperson having spent your money at their brick and morter facilty would matter? Think again.
For every story about how "my
dealer did this or that to me" I'm sure there are TONS more about how the selling dealer workied with th client and made a goodwill warranty repair..I guess I would use the "autobytruck" service as a guide for pricing if it didn't obligate me, then use the information to sharpen your pencil with the local/trusted dealer..
Gosh, the car biz is not that bad people..Why open yourself up to a non franchised sales process that could leave you disappointed?
BESIDES...Look at that poor kid MICHAEL A stole the EVO from...Geez..

Besides I found several used EVO all for around $23k - $24k. The only reason I purchased this particular one was because it was only 1/2 hour from my house. The kid had the car advertised for several weeks and had gotten little to no response response and was about to make another $1300 payment. I wouldnt exactly say I was doing him a favor by buying the car from him but honestly the dealer really took advantage of him. This is not my fault. In my opinion used EVO's are NOT worth more than $24k and anyone who paid over MSRP or MSRP, paid a premium for the car when new so when and if they ever sold the car they would realize a huge loss.
Go ask a your local chevy dealer what a lease would be for 36 months with 0 down on a vette....... LOLOLOL
see if he can come $250 close to $529/month, and if you cant figure out 95% of the features on a car yourself,,,, buy a Kia.
And also you sound like your on your own when you buy this way? You have all the service just like you bought it from a sales monkey...... I know more about cars than most any sales manager to begin with,,,,, why would i want to PRETEND, they are doing me any kind of service anyways?

M3lachsilber .....business is business ... I sleep very well at night thank you. If you are so concerned about his college fund why dont you forward some of YOUR money to him. You can put your money where your mouth is.

and you are also different from most Corvette customers too..And most $50,000 and up customers to boot..

Let's look at the fine print on that C6 lease ad before you go hailing "go try to find a better deal" assaults at me. Please.
The car isn't even out yet..

No problem ... besides the kids parents are loaded so I dont think money is a big deal for them. I think they where making him sell the car to teach him a lesson ... seriously.
I am trying to point out the stupidity of some "anti-dealer" people by showing an example of how it is "buyer beware" and "do your homework first....WHERVER you buy from.
Dealers aren't the only one snatching a client's money through opportunities like you had Michael..
So why say that they are always taking advantage of situations??! And ripping us poor consumers off? Consumers "rip off" consumers every day ALL day...OBVIOUSLY.
Is profit REALLY a dirty word?
(Michael A..your deal is like "reverse profit"..By the way, great deal..did I mention that??)
