here in texas i got my evo for 28k out the door ofcourse tax title and liscence was another $1,200 so 29,200 in all. plush they gave me free window tinting. they just wanted to get rid of it. i had been eyeing it for 4 months then one day went in and got it. but on the invoice i think it was $27,652.16 or something like that. the only thing i'm missing is the sunroof, but i didn't want one.

but here's the deal, that quote is right. but there's a catch...
the advertised price is actually $26,995 (with carbon wing, w/o sunroof), they put down $25,900 becuase they are taking into consideration the $1000 loyalty discount.
either way you cut it, those are great prices...

yeah, i know! check it though... i was thinking about waiting another couple weeks. do you think i'm screwing myself by not jumping on this right now? the dealer even told me that they advertise this every couple weekends, and that by sunday, the two that were advertised are always sold.

Another Quick note, usually as car become leftovers dealer generally are given additional incentives from their parent company. The incentives are usually not know to the public, but usually you can buy leftovers for less than invoice and sometime that includes a lower price than invoice plus dealer holdback. I believe car manufacturers do this because they want dealer to order new cars year round (ie not hold back ordering at the end of the model year)

If you currently own a Mitsubishi then you're screwed because the loyalty ends tomorrow. I also don't believe they are selling 2 per weekend with their ad. Maybe so, but I doubt it.

You are using too broad a brush to paint your generalization. I know everyone wants to believe what you say and you probably believe it as well however it isn't a given as you present it. Some brands offer extra on some models some of the time. The biggest myth that Edmunds has propogated is the incorrect assumption that holdback is universally available and buyers can scoop into it any time they want. Believe it or not, and like it or not, dealers must make money somewhere on the deal and if they've discounted to invoice and given the rebates then whatever percentage of holdback is still left is what they have for profit.

I thought that I left a pretty generic statement using the words 'generally' and 'usually', but I didn't intend mislead anyone to think you buy an car at a Dealer brake even point. I honestly don't know what Mitsubishi dealers incentitves are and I don't pretend to. However I have noticed some people are get deals on 03 EVO's that the dealer is seemingly braking even if not losing money. Most of the time Dealers don't lose money on a new car sale, I am wondering if their is some incentives now.

I totally agree. Dealers are in the business to make money. I don't like how they do it sometimes, but with an honest dealer is entitled to make a decent profit. You don't even want to get me started on making a decent living, its one of my pet peeves when people are entitle to think a retailer isn't entitled to make a decent wage...

Just picked mine up today for $25,990 (CF wing, no other options) after Mitsu loyalty rebate and before taxes, etc @ Santa Monica Mitsu.

I believe the "2 per weekend" statement. They were selling a white one to someone else as I was filling out my paper work and they claimed to have sold another earlier that day.

Got great service @ Santa Monica. When I arrived, my salesman took me out on a 30 minute test drive on PCH and some really nice backroads. Only problem I had was that I didn't get an Owner's Manual. Have to give them a call tomorrow and see what's up with that.

Was the $25,990 including the dest. charge or was that additional?

Don't remember, and I don't have the paperwork near by to verify. Either way, dest. charge included or not, is still a great deal.
