How old were you when you bought your first evo
I used getting a car for motivating me to finish school and get a good job also. Though the car I was aiming for was a Supra... (needed a reliable DD so I got the evo instead)

My wife and other acquaintances made fun of me because the other owner quoted in that July '04 issue of Automobile Magazine was exactly HALF my age. Curse you, Jorge Partida of Chicago IL.

And after having lived with that interior for a few years, I began to understand the criticism (minus the Recaros - awesome), although I didn't feel as bad when the interior got chopped up for my cage.
I am very surprised and slightly disappointed (irresponsible parents) in the amount of "kids" that own evos and the fact that most claim to pay for it all themselves. There is no way in hell I could have afforded one in highschool working my 8.50/25-30 hour work week, even with my few "side jobs" and playing varsity baseball in the spring. Either the majority of these kids are lying and living heavily off their parents and trust funds or there selling coke. There were a few of my highschool buddies that had wrx/rsx/mustang/etc but very few of those cars are still running if even in one piece. For those younger guys that actually worked for them slaving at multiple jobs and giving up other things, Good job on working hard and learning the value of a dollar. Its all to common to see highschoolers get these cars as graduation gifts only to see them in a junk yard within the year. If had asked my parents to cosign/help pay for an evo in highschool, they would take one test drive and thats all they would need to say no.
Being a senior in college I got an incredible deal on an IS300(which was my first car, didnt have a car until sophmore year of college which was a loaner anyway) after saving some cash when my rent/tuition/other BS was payed in full but I am strongly considering an evo as living in the mid atlantic/east coast region really calls for AWD if you can only afford to have one car. I hope in the next year or so once I graduate and get nice paying government job and finally afford something fun like an evo.
Would I give up my social life and experiences in college for an evo like some other owners? Ha! Absolutely not! Cars come and go and they will always be there, its not worth giving up simple pleasures and experiences in life for "toys" or other material objects.

I was 19 in 2009 when I got my 05 RS with 46k for 16k. We really only had to pay 6k though since we got 10k fir my Jeep that we traded in. The car currently had 84xxx miles on it.

Its not THAT hard to pay for an evo... It is around 600 a month of insurance and the car payment.. and thats not alot. I am simply a waiter at a restaurant and I do it fairly easy... Yes I have to save a bit, but I still do it, and i Know other kids my age can pull it off too... Some say its dumb financially, but I say its dumb not to. I dont have kids, I dont have to pay rent, I have no responsibility.... Just the car, It raises my credit and teaches me financial responsibility.. PLUS, THe car is worth it 1000 times over to me. Its my baby
