no it's definitely true, I know someone with an evo that got f****'d at the dealership because they noted his license at the strip when he went in for warranty work.

Not the first to come up and probably not the last.

I have mixed feelings about this. I agree that one should take responsibility for his actions.....And, you would have to take it to court, they wouldn't. They just tell you to take a hike and you have to drag them into court. This issue is the reason I don't do organized races.

I always though the dealers MAKE money on warranty work because they claim the cost for parts and labor from the manufacturer (Mitsubishi). Maybe I’m wrong.

They do make money from warranty work but they make more money when you pay out of pocket for it. So make sure they know that if its not going to be repaired under warranty then they will not be repairing it.

Hey Mitsu, since you're reading...Get a F'ing clue. You don't create a future for your company buy incriminating your buyers. Remember, WE buy cars, some of us will buy many more. You WANT us to buy more Mitsubishis. It's called Buyer Loyalty and if you learn this (which by the above stated actions, you HAVE NOT) then perhaps Mitsubishi could become another strong company like your direct competition, i.e. Honda, Nissan, and Toyota.
I don't think that spending a million dollars fixing broke customers cars accross the nation because they RACED them at the drag strip indicates they don't want your business..

Does it?

I have cams, cam gears, turbo back and computer. And Mitsu still will work on my car is something takes a ****. You people are retared man, if you beat the **** out of your car and it fails guess what? you pay! Also the mitsu tech said he knows if your ecu has been flashed because they all have a SN# type deal and when it gets falshed it changes. Also this dealer has changed 3-4 clutches with less then 2000 miles on the evo and the people were ALL under 18, also had a motor blow with 400 miles, it was the kids 16th birthday present. See what I am getting at? Also all of this was paid for by Peachtree to be exact.

With any car you mod - you run the danger of voiding a warranty. It comes with the territory. If you can't accept the danger, don't do it.

Be an adult and accept the responsibility. Oh, and good luck!

There's a reason why Mitsubishi may be hedging it's bets on warrantee work by trolling the net and this board. Us WRX owners have been through the same thing for the last 2 years. I have read on several occasions on the NASIOC forums about guys with major mods, blowing their engines, then returning their cars to stock so that they can get the dealer to replace the motor. This kind of thing makes me sick and is the reason why car makers go to extreme lengths to protect themselves against fraudulent claims. I also saw one fellow member expose another on NASIOC after he tried getting a blown modded engine replaced.

The day I started modding my car, I took responsibility that if it fails, it's my fault - it's that simple. I'd also be curious for someone to post the pertinent part of the EVO warrantee that disclaims responsibility if you track your car. Be honest and staight with your dealer and most times they will do the same. If not, that's what lawyers are for.

*sigh* Some honda dealership offer AEM, injen, greddy and put on the warranty. If only honda made a 4wheel driven turbo car, hearing all this issues that mitsubishi is doing is losing my interest on buying another mitsu.

if you consider that moderators can and have edited posts by members then any reasonable person can understand that MaxR might not have typed this post. hell I don't even know who MaxR is.

just because someone takes his car to a dragstrip should not void a warranty in and of itself...if the car is basically stock there shouldnt be anything that you can do to it that should make it blow an engine, or trans, or transfer case etc...these cars are still pretty new guys...when u start messing with air fuel ratios, boost controllers, fuel systems, etc, thats a different story.

Three words that will clear this up......

HIGH DOLLAR LAWYER.....

If OJ can get away with murder this is cake jk

Does anyone truely think mitsu will really battle someone all the way to court with the only thing they have on you is "pictures" "your vin" "some posts on a forum" First they would have to prove that its your car with the vins and plates matching, as well as you driving (for all you know your car got stolen and taken to the drag strip) and second they would have to prove that you actually sat on your user name and posted this stuff, you know since you stay logged in every computer you log onto.... And last they would ahve to prove that this "type of abuse" is not what the car is intended for when the only thing you see or hear FROM THE DEALER is this car is rally bread and designed for racing... "its a high performance car and rides like a high performance vehicle" hence the BS video they show customers that half of us never saw when we bought the car....
