Need info

Ok so I purchased my evolution about 3 days ago. The owner before me had it on the track a few times and had this switch installed to allow faster shiffing during a drag. I know it takes a special tool to turn off this switch but I guess my question is, is it bad to be driving the car normally while this switch is on? Because I'm not sure if the slight grind from 4th to 5th is do to the switch and the fact I'm shiffing slower or there actually might be a slight grind in the gear. If there is I'm not worried I can have the tranny rebuilt.

What?

Maybe I'm naive, but how will a switch help you shift faster when it's a manual? Placebo effect?

Sorry for the mis-understanding but its called a no lift. It allows faster shiffing bc you don't have to take your foot off the gas

I would think that if the switch was installed to allow shifting while gas is down it would be like the dogbox transmissions where you dont have to push in the clutch. You still can push in the clutch if you want, but you have the option NOT to.
Same with this switch - if you're driving it normally and you take your foot off when you shift it like a regular normal manual car it shouldn't damage anything or cause anything to go bad AND you have the option to keep your foot on the gas if you so chose.

I could be wrong, but that's what it sounds like to me.

No lift to shift its in your ecu so to turn it off you would need to have a tuner do it or get the ecu flash on your computer and a Tactrix Cable then you can turn it off.

No lift to shift is so you can shift without letting off the throttle. And as stated above, it is flashed on to your ECU.

Unfortunately for you, the grinding you are experiencing would have nothing to do with the NLTS (No lift to shift).

Yeah... unfortunately I think that grind in the transmission is due to previous "abuse." There are some pretty reputable places to get that fixed near you if you want to address it. Changing your transmission fluid could help soothe it some in the mean time.
