emission question

hey guys i was just wondering if u guys can help me here with something.. over the summer i got an alarm installed on the car and few days after i was driving and i threw 2 codes.. it said crankshaft sensor and speed sensor or something like that, when i popped my hood i noticed that my positive terminal battery cap fell off and was hanging causing the check engine light.. anyways i cleared the codes and it was fine never came back but i noticed that the car still says its not ready for emissions which i drove over 10k on it already.. what could be the issue?? my friend work at the mitsu dealer and we hooked up the car to the computer and it said the car just havent went thru the full cycle yet. i tried unplugging the battery and still nothing, any chances on a fuse that is maybe blown thats not letting the car go thru the whole cycle for emissions? please help

I used to work at an emissions facility. Different cars take different periods to cycle. I dont know what it is on the IX but I do know that disconnecting the battery starts the cycle over again. Just have them downgrade the test and do the tailpipe test. Make sure the idiots know its an AWD so they dont put it on the dyno.

I've seen certain tunes do this sometimes. They're blocking the OBD, no matter how many miles you put on it, the monitors won't be ready. Do you have any other aftermarket electronics installed on the car? I would have your friend at the dealer hook up the Mitsu scan tool and see if he can communicate with the body control module to see what's going on.

I too had my issues with emission testings. A friend of mine told me that its not how many miles you drive the car. Dont know how if that's right but this I what I have done. I disconnected/reconnected the battery... After 3 days of driving the car, went to get the emission test, and passed. Did the same thing with my old Honda and seemed like after 3 days of driving, it seemed to go thru the full cycle. My daily drive at the time was about 5-8 miles a day. Good Luck!

Sometimes it takes 5-50 miles. But if you've gone 10k miles, you got a problem.
