like any other car, the more miles it has on it the lesser the price should be paid. keep in mind anything done up with a outlandish exterior or alotta motor work depending on the quality of the products used on the car, is also a big factor.

I paid $23,500 for a IX SE with 45k miles from a dealership. There were a few "problems" but it was all parts I planned on changing or getting new anyways, the other cosmetic blemishes were nothing I can't fix with the Porter Cable and some wetsanding

That is way too much money. I am actually in your same situation!

Do not assume you need to go to a dealer because you have a trade. (They will most likely not give you what you're looking for anyway, and you're not only going to be raped on the trade in, but pay too much for the car (ex. 2006 Evo IX with 70K+ miles for 24,000!)

I too am VERY particular on what Evo I want to buy, I would definitely consider buying private party, (That's where these dealers are getting the cars) They'll buy it wholesale cost, wash it, do a safety inspection, and sell it to you without a warranty at RETAIL! (No bueno!)

When considering a used Evo, I'd recommend you take a look at this thread and read through it thoroughly.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...oking-evo.html

Let's talk about that trade in (Craigslist is KEY, speaking of CL I currently know EVERY IX and VIII in the nation right now! Lol because I've been doing serious browsing, www.allofcraigs.com and www.craigslistcrawler.com are great ways to browse "All OF")

I've seen several 2006 IX with 40k miles CLEAN title!! for 21,000 22,000 (negotiable) even found a beautiful SSL (21,000, with 41k miles, leather, sunroof, sound, but $20k is out of my price range)

Back to your trade in, SELL it craigslist. (easy if title in hand. If title is not in your hand NO WORRIES, most banks are willing to overnight titles and buyers are perfectly fine with that) I've sold 3 cars and 2 motorcycles while banks have had my title. PM me if you need more info on that.

I encourage you to browse Private party Evos and to sell your car privately ( You will also save on getting raped with all the sales tax the dealer will charge you, in Illinois, you pay a "Used tax, from private party depending on year.. like $50.00)

All good advice. I am in the same boat constantly watching every day. Patience is not my strong suit.

Then an evo 8 with 9 interior would be your best bet. Most people want the 9's for the Mivec!

I personally would never buy a used Evo. You don't know how well it was taken care of.

Many deals to be had out there, you just have to look and never buy from anyone but the owner of the car, your buying a car that relies on maintenance heavily. You have no idea what has been done and what has not... Always buy stock and build.

Wow! This guys a boss lol

Couldn't afford a 40 thousand dollar Evo X.... I picked up an '05 evo viii gsr (leather and acd with power windows and what not) for 12,900 with cams, exhaust, clutch, wide band, gauges, ebc, more odds and ends. The guy who owned it bought it new and had all the work done by shops so its all clean. It's got rock chips on the hood and the bumper is a bit jacked up from scrapin because it's lowered. I got a quote to fix the rock chips and paint a new bumper for 1150 bucks from a decent body shop. So for 14k or so I'll have a clean nicely modded evo.
