Difference between MN161463 and MN161464 for factory wingless trunk?

Would anyone happen to know the difference between these two part numbers for stock lancer/evo trunks? Looking for a trunk without the factory holes.

MN161463 RS ~04/07/31 trunk lid $236.87
MN161463 MR trunk lid (no spoiler)

MN161464 RS 04/08~ trunk lid (no spoiler) $331.83

From the description they both seem like they would pretty much be the same thing. But when i look them up on mitsubishiparts.net there is a pretty good price difference.

Hopefully someone has gone thru this before and can shed some light on it.

It looks like the number had a supersession just means they change the number cuz they probably changed the trunk a lil bit. Either to make it better or fix old problems. That's
What they do for all parts if the part number changes. I maybe wrong, but I do work at the parts department lol

RS trim level have a "lightweight" construction trunk

maybe worth double checking that aspect (if matters or/not)

reg. lancer (not evo) trunks is also undrilled, may have its own P/N

Talk to RussellM, he might be able to help

I'd buy a used one from an RS so you can make sure you get one without holes. MR trunks definitely have holes

Also to piggyback on the trunk question since I might be interested in getting a wingless trunk, does the trunk come pre-painted (well in my case Apex Silver)?

The trunk will require painting after purchase. I'm not speaking from experience but just from knowledge on other OEM/JDM parts.

I've been thinking of picking up a junkyard trunk off a lancer and getting it repainted. Usually can find them for around 100$.

I just wasn't sure why there are 2 different part numbers for essentially the same part.

The RS trunk is lighter, so you need to get RS springs, or remove yours because they are too strong for the trunk. The other trunk is regular weight. That should be the only difference. Size, and fit should be identical.

Hard to tell by the numbers but looks like some of these trunks would have all the guts included and other part numbers would just have the Lid itself. Definitely check with whomever you buy from or ask RussellM for conformation.

I would say a lancer trunk would be best route. Probably easier to get in junkyard.
