Evo 8 Turbo for DD GTX3582R or PTE 6262?

Hello Guys, I have an Evo 8 2.0 with 470HP with Wiseco Pistons 9.0.1, manley H rod, Kelford 272s, ETS 3.5 Intercooler,850cc FIC injectos, BC spring and retainer, Aem Water Meth 100% meth and FP Black JB at 29psi with 93oct. The Car feels pretty good with all that but here is my concern. Im looking to get around 550-600hp on 93oct and meth nut here is my 2 choices of turbos the GTX3582R stock location or PTE 6262 with a race header. I use my car on the stree daily only, not track. So what turbo will be the best for the DD or do the best job of what Im looking for? thanks

I've seen people make good power out of the 6262 just a little more lag more of personal preference though I'd go with the gtx though quicker spool

The gtx would be my choice. For your whp goal, it's more than enough and will outspool the 6262. I just don't like bb turbos because of their prices and the inability to rebuild them.

I like how people chime in about turbo lag and spool. Spool is only a factor in first gear most Evos stay in the power between shifts when you are racing, even at a road course event. Cone killing is the only event that you may have issues because they are really tight courses that rarely see speeds excess of 6-70mph in which a stock turbo is perfect for.

You did read where this was on a dd with no track use? lag has everything to do with it. Having owned a 6262 car, I would never dd it. The lag and powerband is not what you want for a dd. I would go with the smaller turbo for sure if those were my only two options.

The gtx3582r will NOT produce full boost until it reaches 5500 rpm, the only way to wake that turbo up is a 2.4 setup, trust me I did my research over the holidays

I was a mouse click away from purchasing the unit your talking about, but I thought about and held off, it isnt practical for daily driving for me

Gtx3076 should be your option if you want to go that route, by you doing so your powerband window opened up a whole lot more

Gtx3076. Street/strip
Gtx3582 more drag oriented
keep in mind full boost 5500, shifting at 9000 narrow powerband

You'll bang thru 1,2,3 faster than you know it, hope I can help..

I think a fp black is about the same size as the stock location gtx3582R.

I think if op wants that power and going to use on the streets I don't think he cares about spool and lag.

This^. Plus more lag might net a better DD (better gas mileage out of boost), and the power would still be there when he wants it. Odds are you won't be getting into boost in the center of town (hopefully) so lag won't be an issue...

I would just upgrade the injectors and go on E85 diet.
