Evo owners with the SE lip: help!

I'm trying to actually attach my undertray to my lip with something more sturdy than zip ties.

This is what mitsubishiparts.net sent me:

My question is...

Does the "receiver" part of the clip go into the lip, like this ("method A")

Or does the receiver somehow go through both the undertray and the lip at once ("method B"):

I ask because neither of these appears to work. The holes in the lip don't seem big enough to accept the receiver pieces, and they just mushroom when I use any kind of force. I'd like to avoid drilling the holes out because it's a pain in the ***, but if that's the only way this will work, that's what I'll do.

thanks
john

There's pieces that look to be missing. They will facilitate the attaching of the stock undertray to your SE lip.

I have all the undertray pieces... do you mean something else?

There are holes in the undertray, and holes in the lip, and they line up. When I ziptie it together it looks fine, but that doesn't hold up really well to hitting a ton of cones, so I was looking to use what I thought were the factory attachments.

thanks

This might not help but, when I was inquiring what was needed to attach the oem undertray when installing an se lip to an evo that didn't original have an se lip, I was told additional parts were needed. I don't run the undertray so I never followed through on it.

Are the additional parts needed the pic of the bag of clips in the op? Is that what RussellM told you?

The "additional pieces" are described in this thread, Russel marks them in yellow:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mi...63-se-lip.html

They are flat plastic pieces, they just make the undertray big enough to actually attach to the lip.

What I need is the mounting hardware that holds those pieces to the lip.

For any of you who have factory SE's or MR-SE's... can you just take a picture of the lip as it sits? Can you verify that it uses the parts I have in the first post and their orientation?

Thanks
John

method B is how it works, obviously it'd have to go through both in order to hold them together

the parts highlighted in yellow are correct, though i don't know what #4 is (the reinforcement. As i recall there are only number 7 on each side, but each has 3 mounting holes and the passenger side in that image only has 2 and the cover has one so maybe there are two pieces on mine and i didn't notice

the clips need to fit through the lip and undertray, as stated above you can use MU488006 to attach the undertray (what I used). I ordered 40 of them and ended up with some extras; for an SE lip I think you need 34 or 37, I can't remember
