Clutch warranty work madhouse

so...my dealer has had my evolution for 4 weeks now...i had to wait on the district manager to come down to witness my clutch...that was supposed to happen today...well...the guy called and said "hey i cant make it, something came up...i can get back down there the last weekend of this month..."

wtf?! right?

so...i call the customer care people...they say all they can do is record my rants and that the guy has super sayso over the situation...so i'm gonna have to be in a rental for over 3 weeks more...just so this guy can come out and look at it and if it shows blued or glazed, then no warranty for me...which...i dont understand how they can go just on if the clutch is blued or glazed cause there are valid driving scenarios that could lead a clutch to smoke and hence get blued...

my question to you guys is this...

have you beaten the mitsubishi district manager roadblock? if so, how?...cause this guy has stated on the phone that he's "never warranted a evo clutch, and dont see why this instance would be any different..." almost a quote there btw...

any help or suggestions is appreciated...also, the clutch isnt blown...it only slips from 3500 to 4300 and sometimes it doesnt catch and i have to reshift...

edit: OH...and btw also, my dealer has been on the ball they are tryin their avenues to bypass this guy and go ahead with the warranty work...which i dont think they can...but they are tryin to help and are on my side...i've bought 5 cars from them so far...

If that's really what a district manager of said, then I'm going to seriously rethink plans to get an Evo. No car is perfect, but if isn't willing to stand behind what they make even at the managerial level, then I find it hard to personally justify why I should support them.

does the lemon law penalize mitsu in that instance? or my dealer? cause i'd rather just pay for the part and have the dealer put it in before i'd do that to them...if its going to directly effect mitsu corp...then yeah...

my dealer said that if worse came to worse that all i'd have to do is buy the part and they'd install it...they are also providing me with a car to drive in the meantime...

Four weeks seems like a reasonable period of time for Mitsu to provide you with an answer.
If you so choose, you could have the cltuch repaired by a repair shop, then file suit with Mitsu for the repair amount.

Also, be sure to file a complaint with the http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/

The dealer has been told by corporate to contact them if there are ANY clutch or driveline warranty claims made by a consumer...if they are not contacted they will NOT pay the dealer when they claim....I have seen this memo and it does exist....it is not the dealers fault...you are being stung by corporate...sorry this was directed to naib....

Lemon laws have nothing to do with dealers, the rub lay between you and the manufacturer. MMNA would have to take the car and reimburse you IN TOTAL for it, including taxes. Seems like corporate is asking for it in this case given that they have a regional guy out there screwing you on purpose. That is EXACTLY why lemon laws were inacted. Get an attorney and its a done deal.

So, in XXXX miles are you going to have to go through this again?
(Where XXXX miles is less then the normal expected wear for a clutch. )

Or are they installing a different clutch that will provide a normal lifespan?

I hate the way Mitsu is putting a bandaid on this... totatlly unacceptable.

i'm just happy that my car is being fixed under warranty...i dont think they'd go for the upgraded clutch scenario...i mean i had to go thru so many hoops just to get a warranty claim validated...let alone get them to put in an aftermarket clutch...i'm almost positive they'd say no and if i did put an aftermarket in, they'd void the warranty on the drivetrain...

Okay. Have you asked Mitsu if your clutch is covered if it goes out in say, 5000 miles?
