AC Possible with Forward Facing Turbo?

Gents -

I'm new to the Evo scene. I've been designing and building parts for Audi/VW for about 8 years now. I wanted to pull the trigger on an Evo for years and I finally did it.

I had the car for about 2 weeks and I took it apart entirely and rebuilt the motor, built and exhaust, and bought a few odds and ends, and now I'm working on the turbo kit.

Anywho, before I work on a custom compressor, I wanted to know if anyone had some insight to a kit or already available part on the market.

No kit available on the market. It can be done with a custom kit. If you do a forum search I know there was a set up in the for-sale section a while back. Think it was using a modified set up from a civic

Take a look at ToxicFab...I believe he has a FF kit that retains the AC out now.

The one on his site shows a manifold that is similar to mine...I don't see how he can retain the OEM condenser with that set up.

Do you think that he's using an aftermarket condenser?

Thanks for the heads up.

Any more pictures? The Turbo looks like it will be sitting at a pretty big angle which can lead to oiling issues.

It's a 6262 BB w/ billet wheel and I'm good on clearance and angle. I'm new to the "Evo" game, but not new to fabrication and development.

I'll snap some more pics as I progress with the install over the next few weeks. I did end up purchasing that civic condensor and I'll report back with my findings.

Thanks for the help.

That's the word on the street!! I bought one online last night and I'll fab up some brackets and what not to hold it all together. Pretty stoked.

Thanks again.

Sorry, didn't see what size the turbo was that you had in mind...

Smurfzilla kept the stock EVO compressor and used a civic Condensor and just used modified lines to make it work. I myself bought the ToxicFab stock frame FF manifold and will be keeping my AC, but I know that some modifications will need to be made.

Easier and cheaper to have the Ac lines modified. Not to mention the right size compressor for the car.

Ed Woosley of Forced Fed Engineering in Deer Perk NY makes a forward facing kit that can maintain the AC...it's a gorgeous kit too. If you want his contact info, lmk
