No why you have not seen more STI's doesnt mean the Evo is selling bad quite the opposite if you look on this site under the Evo forums you will see there are quite a few of on here. I also was very lucky to optain my second Evo. I t was very hard to even find one in the whole state of GA. It might just be in your area the dealers are probably still trying to price hike people on the price of an Evo.
There is one at Jim Hudson Mitsubishi in Columbia, SC... it is red and has shift knob, pedals, and guage packege... though i bet you could get them to take it off, but ther are trying to move it... http://www.jimhudsonmitsubishi.com/
I don't belive it is at all, I say its doing quite well based on what is going on.
Lets look at some things,
I've never seen any commericals for an evo since july of 03 or somthing, no ad's in mags other than there reviews on the car.
So, really no company advertising, which is a smart idea. Why? Well I think they knew that the public advertising would do them good, just look in preformance/car mags, there still doing evo tests, mods, etc. Top-gear for instance did 2 reviews on the 8, its all peer advertsing for the US atm I belive.
As well, sales numbers are in the high quad thousands (meaning 4 digits) which is pretty damn good for it's first year, not much company advertsing.
I feel that the EVO will be here for a long time to come, and if not be here until the end, which is most likley a long, long time away.

The EVO is not doing bad in the U.S. Actually, it is doing quite well. It is Automobile Car of the Year, Sport Compact Car of the Year and has won many other publication awards.
Now, sportscars sales in general are down due to the economy and the fact that all the yuppies, secretaries and soccormoms are buying SUVs.

my local mitsu dealer has nine 03's in inventory, they have only sold two since July (including mine). Maybe the Minnesota climate has something to do with it, maybe not. I know they just want to get rid of them. That's right out of the sales mgr mouth.
Dunno for overall numbers, but the local Scooby dealer sold two or three STis inside a week, back in July.
In Metro-west Massachusetts, I've seen a blue STi and one or two silver EVOs in a 30 mile radius (I've either seen two or the same one three times).
WRXs are thick as snow flurries around here.
But look at the number of nerd owners just on this chat site.
