There is a small rubber ring between the motor and the pump assembly that's supposed to keep the water out but because of the broken bolt not keeping things together anymore everything just got in there.
I was shocked how bad the corrosion was, even on the outside, since the pump had less then 30k on it when I removed it.
The aluminum just started to crack as you can see in the last pic.

 

I personally think that the middle man should be cut out of this. I think that each acd pump should have a person in this field who specializes in complete restoration in a full rebuild of this item on the car. If only we can send it to a person who specializes in it and studies it along with good quality and workmanship.
