would a Carfax give you a history of the owners? track them down that way.
I was in the same boat. I bought a "stock" evo but motor let go and found out it was a 2.3 stroker

When I got the car the glove box was clean, not even the factory manual. The only reason that I know that the car came from FL was that the last owner's title showed that it was registered in FL before he titled it.

Hey man,
I wasn't telling you to change your oil......

I'm saying if you take the pan off you'll be able to see the bottom end of your motor and look out for what kind of rods/bolts are in your motor, which will tell you if it's built or not.

I understood what you were trying to say. I really do not want to pull the pan right now but if it comes to it I will. If it does have aftermarket rods i still not know the compression ratio. Right now the turbo manifold has a crack in one of the runners and I was trying to figure out who made it. I cannot see any markings on it.

Also knowing if it's a built bottom end would be nice to know.
