TME with small issue

Hi all !

Im having a smal boost issue whit my och 6 TME ,
We all know that the TME has god a boost of 14,7 psi ( 1 Bar ) about

This summer i put a catback exhust on there , and the car started to overboost ( boost cut) ,

Its a fact that the TME does that of boost exxeded 1.24 bar more then 1sec .

This only happends when the temp i below 0*C outside , beacuse the Air has more denceti in it , and the ingige gets more to breath in and out whit that catback .

Anyway Ive to 2 options ,

1.) Put the stock catback on.

2.) Is it posible to install a MBC , and turn down the boost to about 0.9 Bar .
Just to make shure that the car does not overboost , during wintertime .?

Dude i don't wanna be unpolight , about this but please read before answering,

The orginal ECU will cut the boost, ( BOOST CUT) at exsact 1.24 bar if that boost is fore more then one second , that is how it is setup originaly, from the factory ,

please check it whiy ecu flash and a evo 6 ecu file.

Everybody knows that you your are running whit stock MAF , the car will make more boost whit more cold air ,

My really question is , can i Install a MBC , and make the car run on less boost then stock ? I wanna turn down the boost. to make it safe so the car won't boost cut when its minus 10 *C here ,

Sounds like you should have it tuned and remove the boost cut. it will cost a bit more than a MBC but it will make more power and possibly even more safe.

Hi,

I also own a 6 TME and can relate. Your options are:

1. Reinstall stock CAT back exhaust
2. Flash tune your ECU as Evoikon has mentioned

I recommend option 2, apart from getting rid of your boost cut you will also get a few more HP, better fuel economy and smoother idle. My car is a Japanese import and it had a 180KM/H speed limiter set on the ECU which was also removed.

Note: If you install a MBC and set it to the minimum setting your boost will be set to whatever your wastegate actuator is set at ie you can't reduce the boost pressure lower than your actuator boost setting you can only increase it.

I'd also recommend getting a flash/tune. Personally though I would never recommend removing fuel cut, it's there for a reason. The limit can be raised on EVO 7+, I'm not sure about the 6.5's ecu capabilities. I'd recommend increasing fuel cut and adapting the tune to run more boost. I have seen 6.5s running 1.7 bar with no issues.
