Just wondering if anyone ever read the warnings on the CrC can,LOL

Not to be used with Mitsubishi

So I guess it's not our MAF they are talking about?

I clean my MAF every oil change (2-3 months) with no adverse effects. I've been doing that for well over a year now.

Yeah I was going to use this stuff to clean mine until I read the warning. And they definitely are talking about our MAF. It specifically mentions Karman Vortex type MAFs which is what the evo has. I searched around and found posts on other boards from people who damaged their Karman Vortex type MAF after using it. I'm not risking it, but I don't know what the recommended cleaning method is

It will not damage your MAF. Ive used it for more than 5 yrs without issue. My guess (Just a guess) is the reason for the warning w/Karmen Vortex MAF is the resistor seen inside the MAF can be broken by using the straw with a direct stream on the thin wire or by hitting the resistor.

Hold the can back a few inches = Win

Again many here have used it for years without one reported MAF damaged that I have ever read

wow that's surprising... makes me kind of nervous about cleaning mine now.. will elbow grease do?

or can you spray it on a paper towel first and then just wipe?

You really have nothing to worry about if you don't use the straw and hold the can at a distance. A toothbrush to clean the walls and a Q-tip on the sensor will be fine as well.

Which means it is ok to some of spray can be on sensor or wire( whatever u call)? I think confusing me is other cars that i cleaned, it requires to remove maf sensor.

I used the CRC cleaner to clean my MAF recent (had the same filter as OP actually, but it was no where near that bad on the filter or maf, switched to Amsoil filter now =) ). Anyway, as it has been said don't use the little tube and spray directly on the orange wire. Spray form a bit of a distance and you are fine. Its not the chemical that has issues with the MAF but the pressure and volume of cleaner hitting it if you use the tube directly on it.

Then just make 100% sure its completely dry before you connect it.

Wow that MAF was super dirty. I have a little dirt on the goldish column right before the resistor. I think it would be better if I used a q-tip to clean it. Right?
