Boost leak and possibly adjustment of the BISS screw on your TB. Adjust it a quarter turn counter-clockwise or clockwise, see if it gets better.

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be my IAC. The o-ring, visible once the IAC is removed, can go bad or the teeth sometimes break off....causing similar symptoms.

My car was fine (fine as in staying on) as long as my foot was on the gas pedal...If I wanted to idle to a stop with car in neutral or just idling at a stoplight with my foot off the gas pedal, my car would die.

I've had to replace my IAC 3 times already.

Good luck and keep us posted.

3 times? good grief that sux. those things aren't cheap. I have to find the pic I took of my iac, but the teeth looked fine. Will check the voltage tomorrow and see if it lines up with what it should be.

Anyone have a pic of a clean one?

Having the same problem. My cars my daily for both jobs of which I use the car for work. Don't have time to wait and work on everything so brought it to a respectable shop in Illinois my friends go to. Should get an update tomorrow I'll let you know what it ends up being. From my last week and a half of searching forums and talking to fellow Evo owners I've noticed it's been showin up alot in 03s(including mine).

Once again I'll keep this thread updated. I miss driving my Evo :,(

I am willing to bet my 3rd testy that its your IAC. I found one on here BNIB OEM for $55 shipped a few months back. She idles like a champ now. Take the IAC out and look at the motor, theres teeth on it that engage the unit that strip out over time. People that used Alcohol/Meth injection had issues with it more commonly because it would break down the plastic.

Does anyone know where to find a new o-ring for the IAC? I can't find any without the actual IAC.

Try calling your local junkyards and seeing if they have any IAC's from these cars and try the o-rings....

(FOUND FROM ANOTHER THREAD) = Also, these should work in replacement of your evo 8/9 IAC....easier to find than a wrecked evo at a junk yard and a lot cheaper.
