Highest PSI on stock Evo 8 turbo

So me and my friend were arguing how much psi a stock evo 8 turbo kit can hold. He says it will blow up past 27psi. So instead of asking the typical rating I wanted to know cold hard fact's. So what's the most psi you ran your stock evo 8 turbo kit???

~27psi on 93. Anything more than that has very minimal gains, if any at all.

Personnaly i was running 28 but tappered to 19 psi on 91 before the grimmspeed now i run 24 tapering to 21. Lower torque higher hp.

22 PSI i optimal on the evo 8 turbo . the after that the turbo only pumps hot air , and looses efficensy

Not true
If that were the case then nobody would be making 400/400 on that turbo

It is true, just because people make 400 hp on a stock turbo doesn't mean it's still not very efficient up top. It just can't flow that much volume. If u combine e85 and enough supporting mods it's not hard to hit 400 hp on stock turbo. E85 helps cool combustion temps some and an FMIC will probably help keep it more consistant as well. IMO though u can't beat an e85 evo viii with stock turbo making 400/400 dynojet numbers, very smooth and fun to drive and dead reliable. Loose that pull on top, but still fun.

On pump gas high boost is not efficient, on e85 22psi is nothing. Just because you run high boost does not make the car hold higher boost at upper RPM making it inefficient.

Turbos run what they run. But 27psi isn't the end of the rd. Mine spiked 33psi on cold nights, has 88k on it and wasn't tuned or modded until 80k, and the snail lives epicly. The oil you use, ontop of your tune quality, ontop of a well mannered driver promote the longest turbo/anything life expectancy.

I ran 27 PSI on the stock VIII turbo on 93 pump. At the time I was using HKS 272's and think I was around 350 WHP (VDR) it never went to an actual dyno.

I don't understand? I don't think the stock 16g is gonna hold boost past 23 or 24 psi to redline and thats doin good. Ive spiked over 30 no problem, but all that does is give u a quick torque spike feels cool lol

The turbo will taper off to the psi is wants to in high RPM is what I'm trying to say, like my car tapers off to the same psi at 7500 on pump gas and e85. It is not going to hold 27psi from the start of the pull to redline and be "inefficient"

Spiked 34 PSI on stock "8" turbo before. Felt like a donkey kick.

I have had 4 evos, all of them running fast and quick, some of them on E-85 and some of them on methanol. I have a post back in 2005 or 2006 showing my car spiking to 31psi. Most of my cars running E-85 or methanol had no problems spiking to 31psi but in reality anywhere above 27ish PSI you are not making much power.

I made a post back in 2005 when I had a Evo 8 MR making 364lb-tq(bench mark back then on 91oct and methanol) and I made more power on 26psi than I did on 28psi.

Do a search in my name, I documented everything and I spent hundreds/thousands of dollars going to the dyno and having various set-ups and tunes. Tell your friend that he knows $ $ hit.
