Not trying to scare people away from ethanol. It is awesome, and I've ran it in both of my evo's. Just need to make sure you take the extra precautions to avoid having a REALLY bad day.

the e85 gunk problem is real, I'm proof of that but I had no problems for years. It wasn't until I drove across the country and hit some random gas stations that I had the problem. My area e85 has always been good. I think the lessen learned here is to occasionally run pump gas through to keep it clean, that seems to be the only thing that's working for others.

E85 ftw. I just hate the horror stories people have had with the gunk problem. Mellon knows from his experience.

what's the power difference between E85 and like 110oct race fuel? same mods and same boost level, just the fuel and tuning?

I don't know, I only use C16/Q16, e85 or regular 91/93 octane pump gas around here.

Everybody will say e85, including myself. But keep in mind.. u will use twice as much e85 compared to pump gas. So if you are already not liking the mpg u have on pump u will hate e85...(until u step on the gas).

e85 should be thought of as a cheap replacement to 100 octane. here in cali.. 100 octane goes for $10 a gallon in some places. e85 goes for $3.40. but when u do the numbers you are paying about $6.80 to use e85 to get the same distance compared to 100 octane.

also dont even get me started on getting some form of a ethonal content reader. zentronix makes one and buschar sells some little device. (If you want to make sure your car will last... u may want to invest in one of these too....)

hope that gives u a little more info on what your looking at when u go 100% e85.

You don't use twice as much e85. I get 20-22mpg on pump and 16-18mpg on e85. Also there really is no reason to get the ethanol content reader either cause once you pump it in the car you're pretty much stuck with it.

My e85 stations around here switch to e70 in the fall/winter, so a reader is pretty important for the longevity of your car
