Clutch pedal clicking, possible fix?

hey all,
so I've had my Evo 9 MR for about 6 months now and love the hell out of it. the only complaint i have had is a clicking from the clutch pedal on the way down and the way up. happens about and inch from the floorboard.
Doing research over the past weeks it sounded like a common problem, but no one seemed to have a good solution, and some of the solutions seemed extremely varied.
I had advised the dealership of this problem back when i first got the car, and they claimed it was the TO bearing, and that it was fixed. It seems to me that the problem is the spring right on the inside of the firewall. there was a youtube video that led me in that direction. (cant find it at the moment)
Anyways, does anyone know a solution to that problem? is there a bushing or something that i need to replace so that the spring doesnt pop against the metal bracket? it sounded like the right place, and while i was under the dash playing with the pedal i seemed like it was definitely coming from that area.

thanks!
matt
