It arrived today! It's incredibly dirty right now since it went through the salt/sand in Virginia because of the snow storm but wow, it's gorgeous!

My dad drove it about a mile from the local shopping center where it was dropped off (carefully and quietly since it had no plates haha). I was following him. It sounds awesome! Noticeable exhaust tone but not too loud (though again, he didn't get to open it up at all yet). I looked under it when we got home and it has a Magnaflow muffler. I'm guessing Magnaflow piping all the way but I'm not sure. It smells catless too but I didn't get to take a good look yet.

Wheels are Tenzo R's and they're 19". I'm not sure which model. My dad is looking to trade them asap for something because he's not a fan of the time attack look. I found a set of Work Equips that are 5x114.3 bolt pattern and 18x8.5 et32 in the front and 18x10 et32 in the rear. That's too aggressive for Evo's though, right? A little bit of research led me to think the inner clearance wouldn't be enough. If they'd fit nicely without having to lower the car for them to look alright, I'll try to work out a deal with the guy in exchange for my RS-gt's. Any input on that would be awesome!

Idle is a bit rough compared to what we were expecting but I guess that's because the cams, right? Isn't the AEM engine management supposed to smooth that out though?

And there's a plug in the engine bay by the valve cover that isn't plugged into anything. Is that supposed to be like that for some reason? lol

Thanks again guys!

That evo will more than likely be the fastest thing youve ever driven.

Your R32 looks great. My GF is a euro fan, and had a VR6 GLX with exhaust, and the engine noise was just glorious. We checked out R32's, but werent able to find a well priced one. She ended up going with a 350Z.

Good luck, I hope the car is all you want it to be!
Thanks! And that's awesome haha. 350Z's are awesome cars. A friend of mine used to have one and it was really, really nice! I've always loved their styling.

Thanks! He seems to like it so far. And thanks about the R32. It actually used to belong to my dad but he offered to sell it to me because he hated getting in and out with the seats so I sold my Golf TDI right away to buy it from him before he sold it haha.

haha yea. I actually had asked the guy about that and he said they were taken on an iPhone 4S. I guess it's some effect sorta thing.

42 psi?!? holy crap! Alright haha. Good to know it's something that should be considered! I'll let my dad know so he can talk to the previous owner some more about it. It'd suck to break something for not knowing that.

Thanks! He's actually been saying that he's thinking of getting rid of the wing. I'm begging him not to though lol. To me, Evo's, STI's, and mk4 Supras just need those huge wings! haha

And he's open to the idea of a JDM bumper but only if I can find him one that wouldn't need to be painted and is a decent price. He's also thinking of getting Evo 7 tails and chrome UK badging in the future.

About those wheels, you don't really want to stagger wheel on the evo, you want some size, make and model tire all around, since its AWD.

The plug by the valve cover that isn't plugged into anything, it goes to your front o2 sensor.

Also, whats that with that ignition wiring??

Ahh, really? I figured it'd be something like my R32 but I guess it is a different AWD system haha. Good thing someone pointed out that it wouldn't work! On R32's, the AWD system is made by Haldex and staggered wheels are okay to run as long as the front and rear tire diameters are within 3% of eachother. I have heard that Evo AWD systems are better though in a lot of ways so it'd make sense that they'd be more "picky" haha. Thanks for the heads up and the info about the plug!

I'm not sure about the ignition wiring lol. Does something look bad in the pic? I'm clueless on that unfortunately.

We cleaned up the car a bit yesterday and it looks awesome!
(Before the wash... in the garage that it kicked the old Bug out of lol)

And the first mod we've done since getting it... amber fender blinkers! We were leaning towards Evo VII tails but now we're considering JDM Evo IX so the amber would match the amber of the fender blinkers and headlights. What do you guys think of that idea?

Also, does anyone have any input on the Tein "Performance Bar" strut bar? I see they're $123 shipped brand new and figure we might as well upgrade since the OEM one is missing instead of getting and OEM one.

And if anyone happens to be interested in trading wheels, PM me lol.

I was just unsure wire wires were just loose and unprotected, like they had been molested...

Ahh alright haha. We'll look into it before we actually start driving it. We're waiting on the title to come in the mail still so we can register it. We noticed a loose wire by the back of the engine bay too on the driver side. We'll figure it out hopefully lol!

Congrats to your dad. I know exactly where the car came from lol. There are alot of questions on my head when i saw this car for sale through the pictures. I dont know why it didnt come with the stock strut bar. There are alot evos in Miami and a cleanone is hard to find.

Haha yea. It's odd that it doesn't have the strut bar but we'll be getting a replacement soon. Either the DME one (they're all over ebay) or a Tein one.

We were actually worried for a bit because we realized the phone # of the seller was a Puerto Rican # and the credit union we used was unable to find the VIN # in it's database or something (possibly because the car was originally from Puerto Rico? I don't know... but they figured it out eventually haha)

Thanks! He got it for $28,500 all thanks to the power of ebay.

Thanks! haha. I've heard plenty about VW electrical gremlins but we've been lucky so far. CEL's love to come on for pretty much no reason but you get used to them lol. Only electrical gremlins I've ever had in the VW's that I myself have owned ('02 Golf TDI, '07 Passat 3.6 4motion and the '04 R32) were all in the R32.
-Ever since I've owned it, it doesn't sense when the driver side door is open. It's kind of annoying. I'll fix that eventually lol.
-The alternator decided to die on the weekend of Waterfest '10 (huge VW show in NJ). Totally killed my weekend that year! (Idk if that counts as an electrical gremlin really, but yeah haha)
-The hatch decided to refuse staying shut the weekend of Waterfest '11.

Clearly it hates going to Waterfest haha. Then the week before H2Oi '11, the flexpipe decided to break and sound absolutely terrible so I wound up taking my Supra to H2Oi. Not complaining about that really! haha it's funny... the one VW that has actually given me some problems at the worst time is the one I love the most!

That's what one of my friends said when I sent him that pic lmao. Definitely unconventional but the shipping company was excellent!
