Awesome. Good to know! Thanks a lot!

My dad is pretty much set on which kind of wheels he wants to get. Its either gonna be:
-BBS Evo X MR Wheels
-Enkei NT03's in 18x9.5" et27.

We'd both prefer these but are unsure about rubbing even though the car is at stock height. Even though rolling fenders is no big deal, my dad doesn't wanna get involved in any sort of body modification at all. Anyone know if they'd rub with 245/35/18 tires?

Thanks! We're DEFINITELY going to be taking it to a shop to make sure everything is okay. Today we were cleaning up the engine bay a bit since it's such a mess and found out some things.
1) The timing belt is loose. It looks like a new timing belt. Definitely don't want to leave it like that.
2) A clamp holding a hose to the fuel pressure gauge was slightly loose. NOT cool!

I'm gonna do some research to see if I can find a good shop in the area that's trustworthy.

Also, the air intake filter is shot. It's a 4.5" opening. Anyone have any recommendations on which one to get? I was looking at the Perrin foam filter but saw that some people are unhappy with it because it leaves an oily residue... doesn't sound like something we'd want to have pretty much directly attached to the turbo.

This is the intake pipe it currently has. It looks kinda cruddy with that welded area so it wouldn't rub on the radiator fan and the screwed up looking blue coupler. Is there a different setup we could run that would look and/or function better? And is there a certain kind of coupler we should get to replace that blue one? I've heard that some couplers aren't safe for boosted cars.

Sorry for all the annoying questions guys haha. We really appreciate the help so far though and as we learn more about the car, we'll definitely be contributing to the community!

Thin radiator and fan should buy you the space you need to run a proper intake. Looks like there are a lot of things on that car that are half-assed.

We'll look into that. Thanks!

And I agree. It's kinda scary. The zip ties holding some hoses in place are going asap and the belt cover will be going back on once we get the belt tightened up. Hopefully there won't be any major surprises and it's only minor little things like this.

Nice to be able to do this with the AEM EMS. Stock ecu would just go pig rich lol. Still can't justify one though lol. Mines got plenty of flashes left knock on wood.

Congrats on the car. Have u started it? How does it idle/sound? U will definitely wanna watch ur AFR and do some logging or take it to a tuning shop and make sure it's tuned safe.

Thanks man. We have started it a few times and driven it about a mile. Haven't pushed it at all yet though. Idle isn't the smoothest but we're assuming that's because of the cams. I'll get a vid posted on here asap!

I'll check out the AFR at idle next time we start it up but for now we're waiting to get a filter. I'm trying to decide between the Perrin foam filter or the AEM Dryflow filter. So far I'm leaning towards the AEM but I'm gonna sleep on it and place an order in the morning haha.

I searched for a reputable shop and I think we're going to take it to this place called The Shop in norwalk, CT. A few people on here recommended them and their website makes them seem pretty good (though a website is just a website haha). Definitely worth it to spend a few bucks to get someone to check it out to play it safe... especially after finding these little issues here and there. Eek lol

AFR at idle isn't important as what its at when u start boosting it. At least ur being smart about it and looking everything over before u go out and just floor it. Heavily modded cars like this are always a bit of a mystery to whats all been done to it. With that setup fine tuned, that car should put up some decent numbers and be pretty fun!

Will not rub. However if you get 9.5" wheels, 245s will be stretched a bit, depending on what tire.

IMO, I'd go with the AEM or AMSoil dry air filters. Considering the car is already equipped with an AMS kit, why not get your intake from them as well? It would be manufactured to work exactly with their turbo kit, no guessing.

Ahh alright cool! We def wanna be safe about it haha. The last thing we want is a blown engine or something!

Good stuff! Thanks!

We're getting in contact with this seller in the following link about the wheel & tire package they offer. Their kit includes 235s though which seems like it'd be pretty noticeable stretch so we wanna see if they could do 245s instead. Or maybe even 255? I don't know lol

Just ordered the AEM dryflow a few minutes ago. We'll get a better intake setup in the future since this pipe looks like a disaster

Ordered a JM Fabrications cam sensor heat shield tonight to play it safe with that. Anyone have any other damage preventative mod suggestions?

I polished up the intake manifold too. It was looking pretty tarnished but it looks awesome now! I'll be cleaning up the engine bay some more this week.

I think I'll make a build thread soon even though it's pretty much only gonna be cosmetic stuff lol. May be one of the more boring build threads but oh well :P

That's crazy your dad got an Evo I could never picture seeing my dad cruising around in one on the street. He loves his old muscle. But he sure does respect my Evo. And I really like the rims that came on the car
