My PC680 lasted three years, just replaced with a DEKA EXT12 for $65 shipped. There's a thread on DEKA with some low cost battery trays that will work with a DEKA.

The width of the DEKA 16L happens to be the exact depth of the stock battery tray you have in your car. Drill a couple of holes to mount your battery hold downs and its perfect. You could then cut the battery tray in half and its a pretty much free mini battery tray.

Below is a picture I took when I was putting in my catch cans, that is a DEKA ETX16L in the stock battery tray.

I have a deka ETX16L also and it starts the car up in cold Buffalo NY winters. It cranks slower in the cold but it still fires up. As long as im starting it on a regular basis its fine although I did have my car in my garage for 3 weeks and it still fired right up.

Search Miata battery or Honda battery or Civic Battery on here

All can be found at you local auto store with a warranty esp the honda ones and they fit some short route UICP esp the miata one. I actually settled on a honda batt with an aem intake and heat shield plus a muse short route UICP

How much does the stock Civic/Miata battery weigh?

10-15 lbs lighter than stock (search and you'll find the info)

Honestly most have to come to the realization that an additional 10 lbs of weight loss more than the civic or miata battery is just not worth the headache of mini batteries, I mean c'mon are you going to feel that extra .001 to 60mph with a mini batt vs stock or vs miata/honda batt....no

This is a honda batt with a custom tray but you can modify the stock one with tiedowns. Mine fits with the aem intake, heat shield, muse uicp

I don't. Battery size has nothing to do with the accessories you run. Once the car starts, the alternator provides the juice. Batteries are really just for starting.

Just FYI this is actually not true. Think of your battery similar to a surge tank for fuel, its still a energy storage reserve for what the alternator can not give at a single instant... reason why large stereo systems have extra batteries, capacitors etc (and even alternators to refill those reserves).... its the same reasoning, how much you need will vary of course.

I just wanted to be clear not to mislead ppl

Yes, I would agree if one needs to run accessories with the car not running. In that case, of course, the battery is a reserve. Car batteries are sized to start the car. Alternators are sized to provide power for accessories and to keep the battery charged. If the battery is actually being used as a "surge tank", the alternator is not powerful enough. Yes, I know some do add a larger battery to mega-watt systems, but that is a bandaid to the real problem - an undersized alternator. A large stereo system should not need a huge battery if the alternator is sized for the load. Yes, lets not mislead ppl, the mini battery kit sold by many vendors here is fine for our cars, even those Evo's with a stock CD player. I ran the same PC-680 battery in my 1995 M3 (3.0L) for 10 years with a 500 watt amp system. Still had it when I sold it.
