Mini Battery Question

Has anyone done mini battery with an Optima battery? I'm just wondering because I see a mini battery kit in my near future and if its an Optima that is the best of both worlds lol

i think the odyssey battery you need is the PC680. I did a search on it a week ago and found a whole bunch of useful info on it. However I ended up buying a kinetik battery since it was at the local store and easy to pick up.

Yes the ODYSSEY PC 680 is the most common mini battery used.

Sorry but what is the main reason of switching for a mini battery? Is gaining space in that area really something usefull when beginning to mod the car ?

Better intercooler routing and lighter weight. I'd be somewhat concerned the mini battery wouldn't last as long and work as well as the full size. I don't see how it could.

on a daily driven car the mini battery will last just as long as a regular sized battery.

I am trying to decide what to do with this battery issue as well and it seems that no one completely answered your question and just offered alternatives.

A fellow local evo owner put in a group 51 Optima battery. It fit fine with his Buscher Racing UICP.

Results:
1. The CCA are low equal to 450cca but alot higher compared to the Odyssey pc680 of only 220cca.
2. It is rather tall looking for my taste equal to 8.94 inches.
3. It is also quite heavy equal to 26lbs.

I am looking into Stinger Spp680, and Braille batterys with more CCA since I live in the winter states. I have been using the stock redtop Optima since I bought my evo, but I am concerned about moving it to the trunk. Fire hazzard, $100 battery box. I am thinking it might just be easier to by a new Optima ect and be done with it.

Any more thoughts and ideas????

Specs:
Weight 26lbs.
Length 9.31inches
Height 8.94inches
Width 5.06inches
Cold Cranking Amps 450
Cranking Amps 575
Reserve Capacity 66
Capacity (c/20 rate) 38

need some info on this mini batteries;

1) When you buy one do the batteries come with the terminals already or do they have to be purchased seperatly??
2) Now i see sooo many kinds of mini batteries and the whole 220 CCA worries me since it gets as low as 5 degreez here. And odessey pc680 seems way too much money for a small batter, whats the reviews on the other ones, such as braille and stinger??

I've daily driven my car which is always parked outside with both a Braille 11.5 lbs battery and a Braille 15 lbs battery. No problems at all ever. The only reason why I upgraded is because a body shop burned out my starter and I thought it was the battery and swapped it out.
Like I said, my car is driven every day, in all weather, and I never have an issue. It sometimes sits for a day or so and it doesn't have issues then either.

IMO, Braille > Odyssey.

Oh, I have a Nisei battery tray along with a Nisei short route UICP and both the Braille 11.5 and 15 lbs fit in their adjustable tray without issue.
