Shop didn't bleed ACD pump after clutch install

Took my car to a shop who previously installed a clutch on a friend's Evo 8. So I decided to take my car to them to change my slipping clutch on my Evo 9. After a week, they called me saying it was ready to pick up (today). Got there, inspected the engine bay (it was night, couldn't see much), and test drove it. No CEL and ACD light was on Tarmac only. Drove it around then all 3 ACD lights came on. Drove back to the shop, popped the hood and saw there was very little ACD fluid. I left my car there for another night because I didn't want to cause more damage. Question is, if my ACD pump is shot, should the shop be liable because it is a procedure to bleed the ACD after a clutch install?

Sorry for the long story, just wanted to be precise.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I would think they would be liable but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't own up to it.

Take note, this isn't a shop that's really familiar with Evos, though they did change my friend's Evo 8 clutch. Gotta go to the dealership and get some ACD fluid. I plan to take part of the ACD bleeding. I'll be the one stepping on gas while a mechanic will be bleeding the valve. I just hope my ACD didn't die... Just got the car last October.

If im not mistaken, if there's a fault in the system, it reverts to an open diff. I would think putting in fluid and bleeding it will be the end of your issue

^ I think this is correct as well... Just did my clutch last week, and I just used Royal Purple synthetic ATF. It covers the requirement for the ACD fluid

Yes, the pump has a fault where it will change to an open diff and I used Synthetic ATF, nothing special or dealership only. That was the only thing that was easy during my clutch install.

Got the car back today. Looks like the shop owner did his homework last night and did the bleeding and put in AMSoil ATF fluid this morning. The Comp Clutch stage 2 feels pretty good, little stiffer than stock and no 3 ACD lights, just Tarmac. Now onto tuning.

Thanks for your replies, much appreciated.

If they knew what they were doing they could have changed the clutch without disconnecting the acd. Adds about 15 to the job. But its less time and money then taking the acd out.
