Qtp cut out, do u really need a retune

Ive been looking at the qtp cut out's again cause i had one on my srt4 and it sounded great and it spooled faster but ive been reading that you need to retune for one, noww my evo has full exhaust with no cats so theres really nothing holding me back now and the cut would just be for a louder exhaust and for the exhaust to escape faster and spool better, now do i really need a retune ?PI

Cut out's are generally for people who still want to use the stock catback portion of the exhaust to keep things quiet. If you already have a 3" turbo back exhaust and no cat, then getting a cut out makes no sense. You already have plenty of exhaust flow. You might benefit from an o2 dump though.

As for the retune, if you change any parts that alters air coming in or going out, then it would be wise to get one. In my case, I changed my k&n style paper filter to a higher flowing foam filter and swapped out my high flow cat to a test pipe, so now I need a retune.

I plan on doing two magnaflow round mufflers and a long magnaflow resonator with a Doug's header electric cut out, the cutout will mostly be for sound and a little extra flow. Doug's e cutout is better then qtp, it's supposedly leakproof...

Contact your tuner and ask them. I am unsure how the cut outs respond to a tune when open one minute and closed the next.

To get the most power out of running the cut-out, yes you will need a tune.

Ive used Qtp and it was pretty good quality and the electrics r just too expensive i dont mind jacking the car up and open it myself on the drags. I plan on getting a new tune anyways so i guess ill get it and go get a new tune
