.....started up the good ol'mitsubishi intending to heat it up and accidentally hit the lock button and just figure it all out right when you and your girl step out of the front door heading out to work!

I've done that in my old Civic. The alarm would randomly lock the car when I'd get out. It sucks having to watch your car idle until you perform a break in. Luckily, the Civic is easy to work with if you have the right tools.

Happened three times to me...worst time I ended up locked out of the car and the house and it was drizzling...on top of that, it was mid day so not many of my neighbors were home, so i had a longer walk than usual to find someone to borrow a hanger from.

I did. Thank god for AAA.

What I do now is just set my turbo timer to the highest amount of time I can set it to (10 minutes) and let it time down. That way I can warm up my car and keep my keys in my pocket.

That alone makes me want to get a turbo timer.. Come to think of it.. also good for running into a store for coffee to keep the car running.. I'm sold..

I always hit the door unlock when I exit the vehicle while running, I made it a habit..

I like cars which you can't lock from the inside and close the door....
When I'm really ****.. I actually roll my window down slightly to prevent that from happening......
I've never ever locked my keys in my car, but I've only owned one car which I could do that (my evo lol)

By "right tools" do you mean your hands or any other Civic keys? Easiest car to get into EVER is the 1988-2000 Honda Civic.

I just get in my car, find a song on the ipod, seat belt, and im good to go... Never once burnt a drop of oil at 80K...

EDIT: To the OP, yes, i've locked myself out of my car, but on accident when i was grabbing something out of the trunk haha.

hate to say this but realistically if you have some muscle just grab the door jamb and pull and use something to pop the door lock. done this many times on numerous cars. if you happen to bend the door jamb a little just keep the door open get in between it and the car and bend it back a little.

never had to punch out any windows at least this way. just using some muscle in a smarter and different way...lol
