I've done it before. It was raining, and almost sunset, and the lighting seemed to make me go take some pictures behind a grocery store where the trucks come. I left my car running to take some quick pics, and as soon as I shut my door I realized what I had just done. No spare, and no one to help me. Even better than that the manager told me there was a semi truck coming soon to unload its cargo. So I called AAA, and it took them almost 3+ hours to get to me. Like wtf?? really.
Now I have a spare just to unlock it, and I always roll down my window a little bit just in case.

 

Turbo Timer helps very much in this situation. I actually am a smoker. So i just leave the car running pull out my keys and lock the doors and go into the shop for whatever i want then come back put the key in the keyhole then in the ignition and your good 2 go. The reason most of you never thought of that is because you probably dont have a turbo timer. It makes much sense. Why turn your car off for 1min just too run into a store and back? I actually have heard it takes more fuel to start your car rather than let it idle for such a low amount of time. On the plus side you never lock your keys in your car. AND SAY YOU DO... My Turbo Timer actually UNLOCKS all the door when the countdown on the timer is done then you can open back your car doors and grab your keys and continue doing what you want. For those of you who are wondering why would you want your car to unlock after it shuts off... well i have an aftermarket alarm so i just push the "Armed" button from inside malls or shops and it shows on my key its lock and Armed after the timer is counted down.

So bottom line. +1 for Turbo Timers. Plus it makes people look at you weird when you walk away from a started car lol.. then they ask and you tell them "Oh it turns off by itself" their facial expressions are so hilarious like its the best thing they have ever seen haha.

 

One time I Locked my keys in the car running and then went into the mall ( at this point still didnt know that my keys were in my car, and my car was on ) got back to it and I got an ear full from all of my friends makin fun of me lol. but I got the mall security and they opened my door pretty damn quick. =)

 

Have done it 2 times before I lost my keyfob. The damn car would lock the doors on me. It is pretty scary how fast someone that knows what they are doing can get into our cars. The 2nd time I even had my windshield sun visor up and I have really dark tent (5%) and the guy was in the car in like 10 seconds. = /

 

Get another key made just to open the door and put it in a magnetic key box under the chassis so you dont have to scratch your door trying to push your lock open.

I locked myself out of my car while it was running once. Luckily I was at home so I just went and grabbed my spare key.

I can't even count how many times I've done this in past cars. Can't do that in the Evo because of the fast key system.
