How much heat.......?

I'm preparing to install a tubular manifold. I have some heat wrap on the way. I do have a stock radiator hose in the default position. I believe the heat wrap will handle the radiator hose until I upgrade it to a more heat resistant solution in concert with the heat wrap. Do I need to shield my cam sensor from the heat of the manifold as well?

I youtube'd a tubular mani and saw it like glow purple hot..... I'm just sayin.

I used a shield on the cam sensor as a precaution. The wrap will do an excellent job controlling the heat but better safe than sorry.

That's how I feel about it as well. Always better to be safe than sorry.

Looks like a cam shield is forthcoming. Thanks, forum!

I always hear bad things about the heat wraps driving the heat to the ends that are not wrapped causing cracks. I dont have any experience with it but I have heard this from many. Maybe saomeone can chime in.

well that's reassuring...... now I'm starting to worry; how else am I going to manage this heat pollution from these tubular headers?

What mani are you running? If you wrap correctly you can cover the welds up to the flanges. Of course, even a quality mani can crack. Mine has been wrapped for two years with no problems.

I got my hands on a brand spankin new TomiokaRacing exhaust manifold. It's nice but not when it's being a little quasar underneath the stock radiator hose.

Your other option would be to get a different rad that has an offset neck.
