Aftermarket Boost Gauge from Stock MR Gauge Connections

I searched and got info on how people tapped into the vacuum line from the stock MR boost gauge to setup their aftermarket (afm) gauges. Does this mean they use the vacuum line that connects to back of the MR gauge, extend it some how, and connected to the back of some afm boost gauge? I know you still have to tap into a power source and such, but if I can just existing lines, it would save me the time of tapping/routing through firewall.

Is the vacuum line that connects to the MR boost gauge the same OD as the vacuum line that comes with your aftermarket boost gauge? If so, then you can just take a short length of rubber vacuum hose with an ID into which the ends of both your vacuum lines will fit tightly and jam the ends from the MR vacuum line and the aftermarkrt vacuum line into opposite ens of the short length of rubber hose.

I personally am not (sold the MR gauge kit), I am running a defi digital boost gauge, and I will put the sensor in the engine bay so the vac line will be as short as possible.
I am already running wires into the engine bay for other gauges so its not a big deal for me.

I plan to get the AEM boost gauge. For boost, did you basically did what Sparky said for the vacuum line?

reads accurately and everything? Hope so, I plan on doing exactly the same thing, no point in running another vac line if I don't need to.

Yes it will work (was done for my autometer boost gauge) but accuracy is limited by how accurate the replacement gauge is.

i just installed my aem boost gauge with the stock MR gauge vacuum line and took it for a test drive. Seemed to be working correctly but idk how accurate, it just started snowing really good though so i didnt have many chances to get on it because everyone is driving like an 80 year old grandma. Ill repost in a couple of days to confirm

at idle: -18 vacuum
mini 4th gear pull: 18psi

only mod i have is a megan downpipe with STM aluminum cat back

Edit: It's accurate as far as I can tell, I got a clean pull in 3rd today and it topped out at 20psi and tapered down to 17 like it should with stock boost
