Anyone ever replaced the engine in their Evo?
Hello EVOM!
So i'm Evo shopping and had the idea to buy a higher mileage car cheaper and put a new engine in it later on down the road. Has anyone out there ever done this, or any input/advise for doing so? Any kind of input is always appreciated! Thanks!

There are a ton of people who have swapped engines on this forum. Maybe some will chime in with specifics but most will probably just tell you to search You could have the engine rebuilt using the stock block 4g63 or go with a 4g64 block. There is the option of using OEM internals or upgrading (what a majority of people do.) For a built 2.4L expect to pay around 8-9k. I'm fairly certain most other builds are similarly priced. Going with OEM internals might save you some money but it's the cost of labor and machining that kills you. Google evo stroker and read!

This might be more expensive in the long run, normal wear and tear on everything else; transmission, transfer case, brakes, struts, rust... My wife is starting to hate my Evo.

Its done quite frequently by many members. Do some searching & you will find not only those that have replaced, modified the 4G63 but the forum vendors that offer their parts / services. Check the forum below
