I was going to go down to this dealership over the weekend and check out an 05 VIII but after checking out the carfax and seeing 1 owner, it was repossessed last year in September. The dealership listed the car at 70k miles carfax says 74k.. I also googled the vin number and found the same car at a dealership close to this one stating 74k miles but it's old and I'm assuming the car was just transferred/sold to this other dealership. Should I not even bother? I am paranoid about what I buy now and the car is a good 6 hours away.

 

It definitely warrants at least some phone calls to find out what's up...

repo'd just means the person making the payments stopped making them or couldn't make them anymore so the bank took the car, cut their losses, and sold it at a repo / police auction

 

Repo"d on a 05 1 owner??? what did he have a 8 year term?
The dealership where i got my car at had it listed at 40k miles when i got their the car Had 42, i suspect it was a draw in or typo?

 

Yeah I called the dealership it was previously at and I got a "let me call you right back" and they never did.. Go figure. Definitely not touching this car lol

^Yes that confused me as well but I suspect the owner used the car as collateral on a loan or something and couldn't make the payments. I've heard of this and people beat the cars before they're taken/the car could be towed and not on a flatbed..

PS the dealership trying to sell this car to me is being awfully nice saying they would pay for gas and a hotel room for the night, desperate much..

 

Thanks I believe so too, I've been sleeping all day (work nights) and the guy has been calling me all day lol if he wants he can sell the car for like 10-12 haha. I am just going to find the right X because buying a 8/9 is too sketchy for a single car with the way most of these cars have been treated, it's sad really.

 

He may have Refi'd the car if he was in a bad financial situation to lower the payments. Not an uncommon thing

 

Well for 10k, you could put 5-6 into it and have a built engine for a total of 16k, not too bad. Only downside is you would need that money up front.
