Can't wait to see the outcome. I find it very funny that so many people point to replacing parts when they have no evidence or engineering knowledge of how a system works. Franks seems like a good idea to check out.

Mine (a completely stock EVO VIII GSR 2004 model year 69000km on the odometer) came up with the same issue (radiator fan starts even just when you turn your ignition on and keeps on running continously or periodically during the drive) during the last few months.
I am going for a change of all liquids next month and I will have my mechanic check the source of the problem, so I will post again.
@frankmc proposal seems an out of the box solution, but anything is possible, so I will check that also.

you need a new fan control module like this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/29578813654...3ABFBM8unEh8Ni

a used Calsonic (OE brand) might be better that these generic ones

Out of curiosity, did you try any aftermarket ones first?

I have the same issue, so I changed to an aftermarket fan control module and it solved the problem, however i realised the fan wasn't then kicking it at 90 degrees.

I tried a second aftermarket module and the fan did kick in, however next time I turned ignition on the fan came on straight away again even though it was not anyway near 90 degrees

No I didn't try an aftermarket unit.
I did not have much time to experiment with different ones, so it cost me a little bit more to buy the OEM one but the problem was solved on the spot.

I bought it from the local Mitsubishi dealer.
In Greece we only have a single main distributor.

The module unit wasn't available in my dealer, they searched and found one last part in another dealer located in Europe. I ordered and received it via express delivery in order for me to not lose it.

The fan module can be bought through other dealers for example Nissan, Tesla, etc. See post#60: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ht-farm-4.html
