Any Evo owners have a flowmaster muffler?
Do any Evo owners have a flowmaster muffler? I am interested if you do, could you describe the sound on the Evo and what power gains were made? Thanks Cobra2evo
it would sound like a mustang cobra on crack!........lol. I'd go w/the AMS cat-back. Sounds deep kinda like a flowmaster, but get more high pitched in the high rpm range. Go to renn-art.com they have a vid clip.
from just a muffler, not the whole catback piping, your probably only gonna gain maybe 5-7 to the wheels(not much). if you get a whole system from the manifold back, probably, 15-25whp(depending on where its tested).
as long as it didnt sound like the flowmasters you hear on like a chevelle, or mustang. I know the v8 makes a totally different sound......but i heard a flowmaster muffler on a eclipse gs, and it sounded like crap.......

So I take it no one here has a flowmaster in a system. I have heard it on some 4 cylinders and it was pretty throaty. If anyone knows of a sound file to hear it on an Evo, please post it. Cobra2Evo
Plus flowmasters dont flow shat! They are the worst performance muffler you could buy. If you dont believe me, then give them a call sometime and ask what cfm they flow. They will try to tell you its not about cfm but about exhaust pulses hahaha. Please dont do it.
I've had a 500 horse mustang that used really old 2 chambers (the new design is different inside), but they were both 2.5" and I probably would have made more power with some magnaflows...
my LS1 Camaro was totally choked on the 3" single-in dual-out flowmaster, and when I replaced it with a Magnaflow, it made a huge difference.
Flowmasters flow better than stock, but nowhere near as well as a straight-through.
It would be one thing if they sounded good on a 4-banger, but they sound like crap. The Evo muffler location is too close to the rear of the car. Flows need a chunky sounding V-8 with tailpipes to sound good.
The tailpipes are what makes older muscle cars and most all mustangs sound great with flows. If you don't believe me, listen to the same setup with turndowns. All you'll hear is fluttery bass sounds from the exhaust.
Stick with a magnaflow or some sort of straight-through or you'll regret it.
