I know in 5.0 Mustang magazine they did a muffler shootout and they had magnaflow, dynomax, flowmaster, holley, edelbrock, borla, bassani, and flowtech. This was on a 370 rear wheel horsepower mustang. The flowmaster and magnaflow posted very similar horsepower and torque numbers. I don't think there was even a 2 horsepower difference. I have always like the sound of flowmasters, and it could flow enough for the Evo horsepower numbers. I think that parts for imports are priced high for what you get. Cobra2Evo

I think they can sound cool on some 4-cylinders. I had a Dynomax Super Turbo for a short time on my BMW 318is with twin cam M42 engine. The stock unit was rusted through and I was waiting for an inline 6 swap but I needed a muffler for some track events in the meantime. Anyway, bought a Dynomax for $35 had it installed for about $30 and used it for one summer. I LOVED the sound! Deep, throaty and not too loud. No real power difference, though.

The Flowmaster is similar to the Dynomax, so it may sound cool...you never know. I'm just not sure I would put crappy, rust-prone parts on my new Evo! I'm going to go with Bushur's Magnaflow system. Sounds great, doesn't seem too loud, and not prone to rust.

I've got dual Flowmaster custom exhaust on S2000 too, it's not that bad. It does not have that high pitched JDM whine and bling factor, it's kinda boomy on 3.5-4k but gives best bang for the buck and more important proven power gains over JDM competitors. I would not hesitate to put it on my EVO, must do wonders...

I would much rather make my Evo sound like a WRC car than some pissy outdated pushrod-based V8.

Considering the power LS1 'Vettes are still putting out, I'd hardly call pushrods "outdated."

If you are concerned about power you dont want to use a chambered muffler on a turbo car. A straight through muffler is a much better choice.

Well as long as it sounds good to you thats all that counts. Did you feel a differance with the new exhaust on? I didnt put an exhaust on my S but I know that not many of them add any power and some actually take it away. Thats one nice differance between the Evo and the S. Mods add power.

You call 400hp from a 5.7L outdated motor impressive?

With the gas mileage they get, yes. What does engine size have to do with it?

If it gets 100hp per liter out of those V8's, I would find those impressive.

Otherwise, there's nothing impressive about a motor that does 50hp per liter.

If I wanted better gas mileage, I would've gotten a BMW 3er turbodiesel instead.

My butt dyno doesn't feel a thing, dyno run showed 5hp increase between 6-8krpm, which by S2K standards is a lot I can't compain, it's cheap, replaces those awfully looking stock mufflers with nice stainless steel and sound great at idle and WOT

HP/Liter is ricer math. It's more difficult as an engine gets larger to get more power per liter. Why do you think R/C cars have thousands of HP per liter?

It's a meaningless number.
