NEW MEMBER: need help from knowledgable members

Bear with me here as I describe my situation. 2005 Evolution GSR, performance mods... new clutch, cobb accessport, ets fmic plus short route piping, new spark plugs, walbro fuel pump, tb exhaust, turbo outlet pipe, ets intake, jdm mr blow off valve, and adjustable wastegate. The most recent parts added was the wastegate and ic piping, my car is not yet dyno tuned or tuned for the parts any besides the full exhaust + intake. Ok back to my problem, driving my car on a roadtrip, and about 8 hours in i pass a semi and once i hit full boost i couldnt tell if i had a fuel cut out or a boost cut, but it felt as if i would have rapidly took my foot of the gas in high rpm/boost. I babied her home, checked all the ic piping to make sure that wasnt it, I think i may have the wastegate set at too low of a pressure which could cause it to release pressure too soon, its just weird how it happened after 8 hours of driving.... hmm?????

why would you install that stuff and not get a tune? specifically the fuel pump, wastegate, o2 dump. and on top of that, why drive it hard without a tune? just asking for issues. wastegate won't just magically change unless it's loose

Sounds like a fuel cut, need a tune. Jestr can remote tune an Accessport.

Not sure if your experiencing some surging or your ignition is breaking up.

Spend a lot of time in the ecu flash section, get a cable, ditch the AP and start tuning.

I'm thinking you may have to decrease** the gap on your spark plugs, I had the same issue on my 05 VIII.

BTW - what the others members said, you really need a re-tune for your parts. That should be your #1 priority.

By changing the gap I meant the distance between the tip of the plug and the electrode, that actual area where the spark is created. Please do not over tighten your spark plugs that's not what I meant. Just get a re-tune, maybe have a shop look it over. Jestr is a great tuner. Best of luck

Get the stock temp plugs and gap them to .020-.022 and call it a day.

I've looked at tuning myself. The the impression I get from it is, if you are one of those guys that loves to read up and do it yourself (diy) then go for it but if you are not comfortable with that, just pay an expert to do it.

While many have had good experiences with Jestr, he is not the only person/shop that will do remote tuning. Look around and call up a few places. I've had great experiences with English Racing but there are numerous other shops that do excellent work.

Good luck.

Thore i appreciate the response, Would you recommend me taking my car to a dyno tuner and having them professionally gap the plugs cause im not exactly sure how to do that. I have about gotten to the point im sick of DIY, lol just from installing parts. Im ready to hand her over to the professionals

You can hit up any part shops and buy a plug gap tool for under $1. Ask the guys at the counter to help you with it. I know you have to swallow your pride to ask for help but that would be way more helpful than explaining it on here.

I love the dyno tunes. People can debate the subject until the end of time but I like having the tuner actually see and sit in my car, tuning it by hand.

Although, remote tunes are good still. Especially when you are in a remote area. You will just need a tactrix cable and a laptop to log your car. After you get a good logging, send the log file to the shop via email. Which ever shop you choose will be able to help you with that process. This way is a little more complex but if you are a long ways from any shop, it's your only option.

I drive 4 hours one way to my shop. It's worth it to me.
