Arp head studs without swapping the head gasket???
Arp head studs without swapping the head gasket???
I'm going to run a FP Black with 272 cams, valve springs and more on a stock block Evo IX. I also plan to run c16 at around 33 psi boost. My question however is has anybody ever swapped arp head bolts/studs without swapping the head gasket. I was told to just swap bolt for bolt and then torque and it will work. My evo has 67k on it and most have told me that it will work fine but I want to make sure I'm making the right decision. Thanks guys.
Well to do it perfectly right you should remove the head and replace the head gasket. I did not do it perfectly, I did it the 1x1 way and I have not have had any issue's with it. I got tuned right after I did it and it held up on the dyno just fine and for many miles after. There is a order you need to follow though when doing this method. It is some where on here so I would use the search feature and find the correct thread. I torqued all the studs down to 30 pounds first, then all to 60, then finally 90 for the final one.
