well i got rear ended today but need some input from you guys

I was just riding around town today then outta nowhere i got rear ended at a red light. It just turned green and i went to pull out then BAM! im guessing where it knocked me forward and she left it in drive but she hit me again, so that's twice i got hit. So i got all their info and filled police report and all that good stuff.

But i need some input cause i was wanting to take advantage of this and go with the jdm rear. So my question is what should i expect from the insurance place about replacing the bumper. Will they make me go with the bumper i got now? or will they let me go with the jdm?

Just wanting to know what to expect from them when i take it out there Monday, so and input from people who have went with the jdm after getting hit would be appreciated.

Here's a pic, you cant see but my trunk is not lining up now and my right taillight is popped out a little.

Go through the other persons insurance. Start searching for a jdm bumper, and let the body shop know that you will be going with another bumper so they dont order the parts before you can bring it up.

If u can sometime they will cut you a check for the damages. Go buy the jdm bumper and pay the bodyshop to install it and fix other damages. If all it needs is a bumper than replace it yourself and then you have extra money left over.

I bought the bumper myself and the body shop reimbursed the replacement cost of an OEM one when mine got hit. The JDM rear was cheaper too, so I made a few bucks...

When I got rear ended last year, I had bought the JDM rear myself and got the bodyshop to reimburse me that cash. I had a bit of an issue myself because the rear bumper she hit was a JDM one and the insurance wanted to put a USDM one on.

Still got shafted somewhat though.. I ended up losing $200 out of somebody else's stupidity. I was completely stopped at a light.

You can bring it to the body shop and just request that you order your own bumper and get reimbursed with the money for it. Most likely a USDM rear bumper painted from the dealer will end up costing more than a JDM one I'm sure.

If you do manage to locate a place that sells rally red JDM rears, please do let me know! Driveline is back ordered for the next 2 months, and I can't find them anywhere else.

Yeah for sure, I've been looking for an online retailer that sells the OEM pre-painted from the factory without any luck. With your situation though, you might be able to just buy another color and have it painted at the body shop since you're being covered by insurance anyways. Make sure to get a matching rear crash beam as well. Keep us posted how it goes!

Its looking like this will be the route ill have to take, don't feel like waiting 2 months for a red when they can just paint it. As far as the crash beam i plan on getting the Demonworks one. But this is if everything goes my way when i go to the insurance place Monday. Ill keep you guys posted on how it goes.
