Sudden increase in mileage...sure it's a good thing but WTF?

Switch in gas blends most likely. Was getting 34mpg in my 09 corolla through the winter. I just filled up and got 38+mpg. No real difference in driving styles.

Never mind that all standard fuels are required to be mixed to 10% Ethanol content by federal mandate. If it's not blended, it's marked very clearly as such and must be sold in conjunction with a fuel that is.

Sure, ethanol has a higher octane level on paper, but it also has a smaller bang compared to gasoline. My car is far happier on ethanol- free fuel than the filler 5%-10% ethanol garbage
